Im currently sitting at 65,000 miles with my 2013 GT500. I do have ford ESP until 2023 and 124,000 miles so that leads me to wonder what will fail and if there’s a sort of average for certain components?

•Rear end -I just had my rear end completely rebuilt by ford (pinion bearing fell apart).

•Engine - does the plasma lining ever wear out? Has anyone had an engine failure on a stock car without something glaringly obvious like a defect.

•transmission - my second and first gear synchros are pretty crunchy already and honestly I’m hoping they do go out sooner than later. My car is, again, stock 100% and on all seasons.
I don’t ever dump clutches or launch hard and being my third Tremec TR6060 I don’t rush shifts since I’m not a fast clutched anyway. (even at a 1/8 event for Ford I did I eased into it and ran a 8.710 - was made into a cool professional video shoot I have link if ya want)

•PP suspension Bilstein - How do these hold up over time? I’m glad they’re a less complicated setup vs my old BMW which was VERY electronic, but not sure if they do fail?

•anything else? I mean sync Navi going out is a given as are headlights id think?

Thanks evreyone!

Are you still on your original clutch?
When I was heavily considering a Trinity it seemed they did pretty well in stock trim in terms of durability. Take it with a grain of salt as I’m only basing it on others experiences with the cars.

Spray on plasma liners are pretty damn durable, nothing to worry about there. I take it your engine is stock? If so you don’t have much to worry about....RPMs tend to be the big killer of these engines. Watch your shift points and you should be good for a long time.

Yeah I’m stock save for the little intake resonator delete (which really is still stock..)
Be interesting to see how hard Ford would fight an engine block replacement on a totally stock and non abused car though.

If you’re under warranty and not modded or tuned they can’t really fight it. That said, isn’t it pretty hard to find a new 5.8 block at this point? Maybe Ford held some back for themselves....

I honestly don't see you having any issues, especially since your Shelby is completely stock, just stay on top of your maintenance stuff (oil changes, spark plugs, fuel filter, fluids and such).

As for the transmission, I would recommend running some AMSOIL ATF in it and maybe atleast do a Baton or MGW shifter. That mod won't hurt your warranty in anyway.

My good friend had a whipple on his 12, and it didn't blow until 120k miles. and it was only a head gasket. im sure you could get 200k out of it easily.

Barring a catastrophic failure the spray liner will outlast the rings. That being said, not sure what you do to re-hone (if you even can). An intact block however can be sleeved so you can re-ring it until the end of time. Shocks will be another matter especially for the performance pack cars. I think there is zero aftermarket for this. Question is will the oem carry the parts and what do you do if you cant get them. without being plugged in you will get some kind of fault lamp lit up. Not sure if you can jump out the wiring and clear the fault so you can use aftermarkets (I'm sure there is alot available in the non-electronic realm)

There's a member on here with 130k miles, so as far as the engine is concerned you should be fine. As for the shocks go, yes they will eventually wear out. However being they are Bilstein's means you can send them off to be rebuilt and they will be good as new.

I kinda want to see what happens if I blow mine in 2022 at 110,00 miles and they don’t have an engine but I’ll still be under warranty lol.

Yeah pretty adamant about plugs and especially oil changes. I should do fuel filter forsure as well.

I have a gen 1 Barton but want to wait till these synchros finally go- less questions from the dealer inspector.

That’s great- did he rebuild?

I think they’re rebuildable through Bilstein as poster below said:

Makes me feel better since I’ll be at those miles. I do recall one on another site possibly being at 175,000 or some change.

Yes but he went with a built MPR motor, I believe the car runs 185 in the half mile now

As far as the shocks and struts are concerned you can still buy them but they are expensive.

2013-2014 Ford Mustang Strut DR3Z-18124-E | Auto Nation Ford White Bear Lake

2013-2014 Ford Mustang Shock Absorber DR3Z-18125-E | Auto Nation Ford White Bear Lake

Interesting that you had to have your 8.8 rebuilt. Sure seems like these 8.8s don't hold up very well on our cars.
I had the pinion bearing fall apart like many others. Mine wasn’t shredded but man did it thump and wail.

Addressing this assuming you stay stock-ish.

Rear end: 8.8's are pretty tough, though 13-14 did use a different pinion bearing from the 07-12's from what Im told. Wouldn't worry about it too much.

Transmission: get ready for a rebuild if you want 1-2 to not suck. Gears 1-4 at least for Tremec Hybrid Syncros. On the bright side, I have beat that absolute shit out of it like it was a redheaded stepchild that owed me money. Aside from worn (and noisy) bearings and synchros, it still shifts fine under normal conditions.

Keep you're eyes peeled in the Marketplace for a set of takeoff Bilsteins. They pop up from time to time. A big win if they can indeed be rebuilt by Bilstein.

Recently on my 11, the Radiator fan died and took out the fan controller. Had it replaced under my Carmax Extracare coverage (absolutely has saved my ass a few times.). Happened in bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway in Phoenix mid day. Ambient temps were 110F+ :D With some quick thinking and a few rounds of playing "shut the engine off and coast" game, I nursed her home without any damage.

Ive had the A/C evaporator core rupture, the clutch master started leaking down and the power drivers seat track failed.

I played that game when my coolant hydra hose busted. Kept dumping water in evrey 3-400 yds lmao
