i still nee to dial in the tune with kevin first. im out of town for labor day weekend so i wont resume that until i get home. then i need to schedule a dyno appt. realistically id say by the end of sept.

Oh damn....end of sept?! I don't think I can wait that long lol

Only sunny side of that, maybe it will cool off a few degrees from what it is right now! It's a scorcher today. Can't be good for dyno results

Well I'm out the next 4 days, both my kids birthdays are in the next 2 weeks, work is crazy in sept/oct and I still need to get the time dialed in. Plus like you said hopefully it will cool down some. You and I have the same weather going brother and it isnt good for making power. Hopefully sooner but im trying to be realistic.

I'm learning my lesson on the fittings. It was nice ordering the whole kit from Fore. But you still end up needing more. Next time I'll just mock it up and order what I need.

If you need more fittings that means you purchased the wrong level of kit compared to how you are routing it. The different levels are different ways of routing the line. There is no need for more fittings in a Fore kit spec'd correctly.

So tuning has begun, Kevin is working his magic. Couple of things that have come up:
I have an ever so slight rub on the hood from the intake plenum, I'll address this later
I'm making a little more boost that I planned, about 24lbs. I'm not sure what direction to take here. Let it stay and 24 and hope for the best? Get a 2lb lower? Get a bigger upper?
That's all I have for eight now. Hopefully tuning continues to go smooth and we will be done soon. Keep yall posted

I would opt for a bigger upper if you have to drop the boost a bit. Simply for the better belt wrap you’ll get. imho

I ordered the Level 2 kit from Fore through Malcolm. They knew I was going to run a standard inlet 2.9. Whether I went dead head or flow through I needed fittings to finish it. One of them was the extension for the rail that the OP needed. And I've talked to a couple other people that still ended up needing extra fittings.

Weren't you wanting to end up at that boost level anyway? If you're running E85 I say let it run.

I was thinking a new upper would be best, just dont feel like polishing a new one, ha.
I dont mind the 24lbs of boost but that's only at 5k rpm so far. I'll see what it tops out at when we get to that stage if tuning. Next concern is the 24lbs is when its 90+ outside, what's it going to be when the temps drop? Dont need 26lbs on stock long block

was just playing about the polishing, it really isnt that bad. ill see what happens with this 3.5" and go from there. i dont mind 24lbs, when its gets higher than that i think its asking for trouble.
on to other news, kevin is getting the tune dialed in. went WOT to 6500 tonight in 3rd, damn its fast! not sure how much more he has left to do but its feeling nice right now. definitely has more pull on the top, not sure about the initial hit yet because im starting my pulls at 2k so its kind of sluggish

Sounding good! I'm not sure at what point in the process Kevin will bump up full timing across the entire band...but I doubt you're there yet. Expect MORE once it's finalized.

I would leave the pulley configuration/boost as is, unless Kevin suggests otherwise during the process. If he doesn't think it's "too much" for the motor to have relative safety in all weather conditions, I'd roll with it. This is going to be very interesting to see the final drive impressions and dyno result!

I'm leaving the pulley as is right now, Kevin thinks it's all good.
I'm sure there is still more to come, from what I can see timing is slowly ramping up throughout the rpm range.
Will update as more happens

So I've loaded up the final tune and did a couple of test pulls. This thing hauls the mail. The low end hit seems more than the vmp and up top it's clear this blower is flowing more. It wants to keep pulling and pulling. Seeing about 25lbs right now, hoping to bring that down to about 23-24 soon. Peak iat2 I have seen during a pull is 110 and it drops as the pull goes on. I can't say how much is the new gen4 rotor design and how much is the j2fab flow mod, all I know is I'll take it. This is with 90+ outside temps
There were a few small issues that the crusher set up presents but nothing that would turn me away from buying. Have a few tweaks to do in the tune for some drivability stuff but I think it's pretty much done.
Still need to clearance my stb for a little more room and then ill be "done" with the install.
Dyno will be done to see what its putting down but that wont be for a few weeks.

Damn! Those IAT2 are incredibly low, especially with the outside conditions you are driving in. More low n mid than a 2.3 vmp?! But top end like a centrifugal?! I'd say your setup has arrived to a fantastic finish. Bravo, job well done

A hit at 40 in 2nd will burn all the way through 2nd and 3rd, haven't had a chance to see what it does shifting into 4th. 3rd gear pull feels like a train, just wont stop until you let out. I haven't had the car out very long so we will see what temps do once it's been running for a while but the temps dropping throughout the pull is impressive. So far the g4 is as advertised, at least in my mind.
The only thing I'm not crazy about so far is the sound of the blower, sounds different than previous whipples and tvs. Almost like a power steering pump going out, but not as loud. For its performance I can live with the sound :)

Very interesting on the sound. We need a vid of that!

But I've always been dubious of blower "whine".....the 2.2 KB has arguably the greatest sound of all....but efficient it is not. This gen4 rotor design is simply state of the art. I would love to see whipple release a 2.3 gen4 for those not wanting 800+! Bet a gen 4 2.3 would be an awesome setup as well for the terminator.
