I have exhausted my search options trying to find a switched 12V source somewhere I can tap into on the drivers side engine bay. Any help is much appreciated.

Aside from the fuse block I don't think you're going to have much luck. What are you trying to power up?

Wired up a new Mechman 170A alternator and off of their adapter harness is a long blue wire coming off of it. I emailed Mechman about the wire and they said I need to connect it to a switched 12V source.

I believe you have to go into the cabin for that, do you for sure have that flickering battery light during WOT issue???

There are no ignition switched 12v fuses under the hood that I have ever found. Use an "add a fuse" and find an appropriate fuse to tap in the fuse block under the drivers side dash. Then run the wire through one of the firewall grommets to the alternator.

@olympic I notice from your sig you have a Mechman alternator as well. Does your harness have this blue wire coming from it as well? After reading all the install threads and YouTube videos, nowhere have I seen anyone mention this wire. Wondering if it's even necessary to hook up as I'm not even sure what it's for.

I bought my alternator a few years back and it did not come with the extra wire. Right after installing it I had problems with the battery light flickering at high RPM and WOT charging issues. Mechman sent me a new adapter harness with the extra wire which I connected to ignition switched +12v and it has worked perfectly ever since.

Olympic is exactly right, only needed if you get a flicker at WOT that doesnt keep the battery light on. I would bundle and ziptie it to the harness and only use it if needed.

Sounds good. I took it out for a test run tonight for the first time since the alternator install and even with a couple WOT pulls, no battery light. Think I'll just keep it wrapped up for now. Thanks for all the input :)
