I have a 2000watt laser cutter. I didn't even think to utilize it for cutting a spacer for a rotor. Hmm....

I drew them and had local machine shop water jet them out for the batch of these kits I’m having made. If you need some made let me know

Sure. Are you saying that your kit would provide:
1) The offset inserts that position the caliper down to correctly position the pads to the rotor?
2) Would also include the shims to move the rotor outward to provide the correct centering of the rotor to caliper?

Even though I do have access to a machine shop, this does sound very attractive. It would definitely be the easiest and certainly for DIY'ers that don't have access to a machine shop. Assuming that the only mod necessary would be to clearance the mounting hole on the caliper and since this could be done with a Dremel and does not require precision machining, it is a win.

What are you thinking on your price?

My $90 J64 Brembo's are sitting on my doorstep as we speak. I'm going to take a peek at those as well to understand the differences between the XTS and ATS brembos as they are very similar. I'll lump that into this thread as well

I haven't had time to work on my revised inserts to draw the caliper in closer. Holding off til I take a peek at the J64's

That’s correct. Zinc coated steel inserts. Also includes new 5mm longer caliper bolts as my inserts have extra thickness on the back for some additional thread engagement. Only thing required like you said was the minimal grinding that can be done with a dremel or die grinder/carbide.

$175 shipped is the kit price.

That's actually not that bad. I'd probably say i'd just go that route if I wasn't having fun exploring this on my own.

I certainly don't have the resources at this time to put out a DIY kit. I know several have asked me, but I simply don't have the bandwidth at this time

Send them to me, I've got a batch of 10 in progress currently. 9 current prepaid orders and one kit for shelf stock. With interest I'll run more.

Mustang5L5, I am very interested to hear what your evaluation / comparison of the XTS J64 reveals. It is a little late for me to change up now though as I have a brand new set of the ATS sitting in my office...

That is incredible. You've booked those orders in the time that you posted on this thread?

What are you looking at on delivery leadtime?

No, I started this back in november prior to the ATS craze.

2-3 weeks lead time for Machining and coating on the inserts. Other parts are ready already

Found these bolts online. Same as oem but 5mm longer. Nice big flange for good clamp load

The J64 XTS brembos are massive.

Appear to be same family of Caliper as the ATS, but a bit longer in lenght. Will do a proper fitup later tonight. They have the same inserts so assuming the bolt spacing is the same as ATS I can install my other set of inserts and test fit these.

Interesting to see if the mounting height positions the pads correctly or if the pads when inserted end up in the right height.

Are the inserts on the XTS the same thread as the ATS?

Yes. Same thread. Looks like same exact insert.

Some weights

I’ll clean one up and start looking at the differences closer tonight. Curious if the pads are the same or have a larger arc for the larger XTS rotor.

So I cleaned up the J64 XTS calipers and played around a bit with them.

Pads are exactly the same.

Mounting inserts are the same. Same 128mm bolt spacing and m14 bolt, so the 1mm offset inserts would work.

Caliper face also needs to be machined roughly same amount to center the rotor.

Major difference is the mounting height. They are taller. You cAn see the difference here with XTS on left

So just mocked up, I held the calioer in place like so

That’s sitting as far down as the caliper will go.

As you can see, the 13” rotor isn’t even close to fitting. It’s too small you almost need a 14” or bigger rotor to fit here

Some machining needed to center it

I wont be exploring these any further. I’ll likely use them to test out a paint scheme for my ATS brembos and then EBay them as they are bolt-on to certain other GMs so I should be able to recoup my funds plus maybe some profit

Good info! The awesome thing with the ATS is they clear a bunch of 17s. My test car for my prototype inserts (700hp ish 98 cobra) has also sported some 17” jeg skinnies that also clear with no spacers

One more pic. Corvette c7 calipers.

Z51 Caliper in left (13.6” rotor), base vette Caliper on right (12.6” rotor)

Similar to XTS and ATS minus fancy colors and letters. As far as I can tell...sAme castings.

Not sure how the gentleman in the other thread was making his calipers work as he claimed he was using c7 calipers
