Is it possible that changing my plugs to a tr6 and list hp and tq?
Changed my stick plugs to tr6 a few months ago so i went to my tuner to retune as he suggested and I’m down on hp and tq from last year ?? I had 487/498 with a very old belt on it changed my belt this year Cus it was slipping abit changed the plugs and now I’m down to 473/468 ?? It shows my boost is dropping at high rpm from 12.1 to 9.2 . Originally my timing was at 18 he tuned it up to 24 and I’m still down quite a bit . Tuner says it could be the plugs ?? Can this be ?? Plz help thanks

So instead of fixing the obvious belt slip problem he decided to add 6 degrees of timing? I'd be looking for a new tuner.Fix the belt slip that's causing you to lose boost. You might need a new tensioner to go along with that belt. Double check the gap on your plugs. If you're getting blow out it could cause issues.

Plus you can't really compare results a year apart. Different weather, different circumstances, etc.

24 degrees? Run that long enough and a belt will be the least of your worries.

What the actual ****....

Dial back that timing, check the spark plug gap and tighten up that belt. The difference in the DA, can be a significant factor in your dyno numbers.

I think you missed the point of my post. The plugs are fine. If you're losing 3psi on the top end you have a belt slip issue. Either the belt is the wrong size or your tensioner is done. Or a combination of both.

Your tuner should've seen the boost loss and figured out that issue instead of adding 6 degrees of timing. Find a new tuner.

Yea I see what ur saying .
My tuner did notice the loss of boost and he recommended that I go back to stock plugs .
I’m annoyed now , Cus I knew that turning up the timing that much and not getting a better result something not right .

Did you pull the plugs? Wouldn’t be surprised if they were peppered from detonation

I'll join the crowd here, keep the plugs and fix the loss of boost issue. In guessing loose belt, worn out tensioner or combo of both. If neither of those, start looking at vac lines. And get yourself back down to 18* timing before your buying a new engine.
