My next door neighbor has a '17 FiST with Cobb Tune//FMIC//Cat-Back//CAI//BOV...the thing was a HOOT in Stock form...now it's a little ANIMAL! I LOL every time I get in the thing. I had a Tune & Bolt-on '13 FoST, and while I prefer the additional room of the FoST(I'm 6'2"/250lbs), the FiST is a better balanced car IMO, and ultimately more fun to drive. My current daily is a Unitronic Tuned '18 GTI(Mk 7.5) w/ DSG, and once again while the GTI is considerably quicker in a straight line, the FiST is the more engaging car to drive. I'm sure your son will thoroughly enjoy it!

Um, no. Pretty easy to replace without much disassembly at all. The idiots at Ford told me that they would have to remove the dash, which I knew was crap. Visit Ford Fiesta ST forums - a wealth of info awaits.
They are telling you this because that is the way to remove it according to the workshop manual and that is what the labor is based off of. People may not know of a short cut, I have not been at the dealer for a few years now but I remember working on them when they first came out and we did pull the dash on them.
You don’t.

Pretty good short cut, I wonder if they have one for the other actuator.

I wouldn't dare touch a FiST without the recaros. I'm 6 foot, 165ish, and they fit me like a glove. Well worth the $1,995 I paid for them. The base seats felt like a damn piano bench. People say those break in and feel better, but I would still not buy a ST with the base seats.

EDIT: you're from IL, the recaro seats come heated, and have heated mirrors as well part of the whole recaro upgrade. Great upgrade for midwest folks.

That great info for midwest folks, Kevin. That's actually a nice Recaro package with the heated feature, plus the heated mirrors. How much was the package?

2015 Fiesta ST here. No Recaros, no sunroof. Currently built for STH class/track days. Not my daily driver anymore(was for more than 2 years).

1. Do not finance this car for 7 years. Car is amazing but that is just asking for trouble.
2. Recaros are hit or miss depending on the person. People either love them or hate them. I am in the latter court and can say without a doubt to me(6' and 250) that they dug into my thighs to the point of pain. I bought a CG Lock for $50 and it keeps me dead planted in the regular ST seats just perfect. If i need a track day seat ill be going with an OMP or Sparco and throwing the Air Bag resistor into the seat harness.
3. The Fiesta ST rules the HS class autocross. Sign him up, set the tire pressures to factory specs and throw some numbers on the side.
4. Do not put the usual bolt ons on this car. Trust me. They are not worth the money. E30/93 Tune on an AccessPort, larger front mount and a lower roll restrictor(people call them RMM or rear motor mount) is all that is needed until you go bigger turbo. E30 tunes with a front mount is the most power youre going to get on the stock turbo and anyone blowing bullshit about buying intakes, downpipes and the like has no clue what they are talking about. If your son is about the "noise" then waste away. If he wants a capable driver without issue just do the listed stuff above and wait until he saves for a larger turbo(if he even goes that far).

Its a great car for the money. Great gas mileage, perfect daily driver and will put a smile on his face every day. I am one of the ones who is quite wary that Ford discontinued the car though as this is the same route as the SVT Focus. Give it 5-7 years and critical parts will be hard to come by, especially for a model that had so much different than the lower end versions(knuckles, steering rack, rear torsion beam....etc...etc).

If he does but it post up in the Fiesta section of SVTP. We need more postings.

First off THANK YOU ALL FOR THE RESPONSES! I am very pleased to see so many of you so happy with your FiST. LOL!

We will know if the deal is happening today! If so he will drive his stang home this Friday and we will do the deal Saturday. He will then fly back to base sunday or Monday and drive the FiST back when he comes home for leave in a few weeks.

I will be teaching him stick shift on this car! Considering how easy it drives I hope it will be easy. Ha.

My only plan was to do the Cobb stage 1 (air filter BOV and tune). My question is how bad does ford check these things for tunes if we do go that route? I would assume less so than a mustang etc??

What are your thoughts on the Cobb stage 1 (BOV, air filter, tune)

How much power do these cars gain from that type of kit?

Although i agree most bolt ons are cosmetic, i made 20 more HP with a catless downpipe on my e30 tuned FoST with no other changes. On the same dyno, same day about 1.5 hours separated. This was with the e30 tune and a big FMIC, which is really the first two things that need done.
