Looking for an aftermarket ignition for my motor. Im running an 04 cobra motor that's going to be swapped into a crown vic. Been debating on what aftermarket ecu to go with, the MS3 looking great with the whole dash control/plug and play aspect which could make things a bit easier. But everyone and their cousin is running holleys these days, but something I didn't like about them was you cannot use a MAF and are stuck with speed density. Thoughts?

Why would anyone want to use a MAF lol? Aftermarket ECU is all personal choice. Do your research and make a decision. I use the Holley myself since 2016 and have been extremely happy with it. With big cams, big injectors, and a whole lotta turbo it drives better than stock.

Is the MS3 out for 4V yet? I thought (maybe only 03-04 cobras) it was not till November. I really don't think there is enough info on the MS3 yet for our cars.

Last I checked it wasn't out but basically all the features are already documented and looks like a great package for someone on a budget. After looking a bit more I think I will go with Proefi. They have a really great looking kit that allows you to use their pro128 ecu for complete engine control but maintains the oem ecu as well to control A/C, dash, etc which is what I really am looking for.

I believe it will be out in November for the 03-04 Cobras and other Ford 4 valve mod motors.
Looking hard at the MS3Pro and the Holley Dominator. I used to be set on ProEfi but have heard from a lot of people who have it say that the customer service and tech support after purchase is almost nonexistent.

I don't have any experience with Holley customer service but I went with Haltech about 6 months ago and can say their customer and tech support is amazing. Anytime I have had any issue, I have called and got someone immediately and they are always super helpful. One time is remote'd in to my laptop as I was connected to the car to help with first startup. Hands down best customer support experience of any company I have ever purchased anything from. They truly support their customers and products.

It looks like haltech offers just about the same pnp kit as proefi. I need to look into that more because if they've got great support that would be a big factor for me.

I haven’t looked at Haltech but have heard great things about their system and tech support. It’s also a lot more money though at least from what I e heard. Motec and Haltech seem to be the top dogs but also have the price to show it.

As it was for me too. I always like Haltech and have a couple of buddies that have run their stuff and told me about their support so I went with them and couldn't be happier with that aspect of things. I'm still slowly working through getting everything set up and smoothing out all the little bugs with the mechanical changes I have made but the ECU has been great so far for the short time I have had it. Runs the engine great and has plenty of room to add new technology and options to update these cars a little bit. I will actually be sending a datalog and my map to Haltech support over the weekend to try and help identify a small issue I am working through.

I was considering Motec as well but I haven't heard much about their support so I'm not sure if they help out individuals or just their authorized dealers. Motec would be nice as in my opinion they are the best out there but I just didnt want to risk not having much support as I am new to tuning and this is my first experience.

I will say the Holley is a great price for the package. I just don't know about their support. Their is a lot of support from users online for that set up though. I got a great price on my Haltec Plug-N-Play kit from HPP racing in Texas and they drop shipped it to me here in Oregon.

I’m a road racer and I’m looking for aftermarket too. I want a digital dash so all my sensors can be on display there. Sure I can just add a iq3 street but I also want the ability to set the car up for big power too.

I’m looking for an all in one solution that can log all sensors perform lap times and video overlay the data to video.

I think the solo2/smartycam/3rd party ecu I can get all this to integrate but I’m also looking around 4-5k to do everything with sensors

Yeah. The support is worth as much if not more then the actual ecu. If you can’t get support from the manufacturer then it doesn’t matter what you spent for the ecu as it would be useless to those of us wanting to learn and tune our own stuff.

Support is definitely key and should be the #1 consideration when buying a system like the ones we’re talking about. I do know DIYAutotune/MS3Pro has a forum ran by their tech support and populated with plenty of users of their system of all calibers of experience.

I went with the Haltech Elite 2500 Plug-n-Play Kit for the 99-04. Customer support is excellent, I had a rough idle initially and over the phone one of their techs helped me with the software setup and looking over the data remotely. The tech suggested I do a compression test and the problem was actually my engine. I doubt you would be able to get this kind of support from any other ECU brand.

Thanks Ray, I have decided to go with Haltech as well. Been nothing but great things said about them. I'm hard pressed to find anything bad about them lol! If I heard right, I think they just added a cruise control feature now too.

Yes. Ms3pro and a aim dash that does lap times along with the smarty cam and god module will allow me to log anything I desire and video overlay anything and produce lap times automatically.

This is going to get expensive.....

Only thing I dislike is Haltech chose Racepak as their dash provider. I went with a AIM MXP Strada Dash instead. Since the Haltech retains the factory instrument cluster, you can pick up their CAN Gauge for $360 or save up for a few months like I did to buy an aftermarket dash lol.

Do you have any installed pics of your dash setup?

Thanks
