So true. ZL1 1LE is a bucket list car for me.

Im only holding out to see if/when GM drops the LT5 into the Camaro chassis... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. that will satisfy!

Yep. It is also stunning in person. Never been a star track fan, but ZL1 1LE looks like it belongs to Darth Vader.

4225 base. That was within the first 20 seconds of the vid. I didn't watch past that so I'm not sure if any other details were provided.

Some of the people buying the new gt500 circa 2015.
“I’d never buy a fat pig like the hellcat, it’s too heavy”.

These same people now in the present.
“The new gt500 has a dct and it’s a Ford so weight is not a issue for me”.

You nailed it.

It’s not that the car is going to be anything but phenomenal, because it 100% will be. It’s the years of fat shaming that the Mustang crowd threw at the competition, even though they performed very well. Shoes on the other foot now, and it’s time to eat a little crow.

It’s all in good fun.

People used to tell me the New edge was heavy. It is listed at only 3300 roughly lets say, this gt500 is 1000lbs heavier minimum!

It's baked into the S550 platform... extra plastic buttons and clips literally everywhere.. far more than my 2 s197 cars.... .tons of extra bracing all over the place.

The benefit is a car that rides nicer, is quieter, and doesnt rattle as much.

These are real GT cars now. Heavy and powerful. I don't get though why a performance version is this heavy. To me, if I have a weekend toy and its a Mustang muscle car, let it shake a little bit at the light.

New edges (sans the Cobra) were shit.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. At that weight, I'd rather buy an M5 Competition or a CTS-V (if any new ones are still out there) or just about any luxury sport sedan.

At first I thought "Well that's dumb statement, they're not even in the same price range" but then I looked and, yeah as shocking as it is coming out of my mouth I think I would take the M5.

What kind of response is this? It has no relation to my post. Post was about weight.

Besides, the cobra is the same chassis and build quality as all other new edges, so how is it not shit compared to them?

Everyone has been so caught up in swinging dicks about horsepower numbers. “If it doesn’t have 7xx horsepower I’ll be disappointed” or “if it makes less than a Hellcat forget it” etc.

I would of rather had a car with 5xx horsepower and 33xxlbs. Will it be good? Yea, probably. But it could have been a lot more by being a lot less.

Your post made a comparison between the lightweight new edge vs the heavier s550 500. You pointed out the much increased weight. This was brought up as if the new edge had a leg up on the s550 500 (lightweight); it doesn’t.

The s550 500 is much heavier because it is in another realm WITHIN another dimension.

New edge cars were shit. The 03/04s were the exception. They were the only cars that were revolutionary due to the performance offered.
