So I just had my car tuned on e85 by kurgan motorsports. We discussed that I obviously should not let e85 sit in the car all winter storage but I was wondering what is the max time I can let it sit. I only get the car out on nice weekends and for car meets and stuff. It could sit for a month sometimes. Do I need to get it out and run it around a little bit or is it ok to sit that long??

I'm going to say start it every once in a while in the winter and you should be alright.

I switch to 93 for winter then back to E85. The process isn’t very involved. 3.0 pulley to 3.3 change tune and fill up.

I've run e85 exclusively for the past 3+ years. I've stored it over the winter for 6 months each year with e85. I've had no issues. Car starts fine each spring and runs great on that tank. A/F is where it should be. I do use Lucas e85 stabilizer. If your system is sealed well without any evap issues leaks the fuel shouldn't be absorbing water while stored.

How is this going to help? The issue with E85 is that it tends to attract moisture over time, more air space in the tank = more potential for moisture. Starting a car without getting it up to operating temp and keeping it there is counter productive, you get condensation from the temperature changes but the car doesn't run warm enough, long enough, to dry everything back out. This is why the bottom of the oil cap will frequently look milkshake-ish when all they ever do is short trip drive it.

I have a 93 tune to switch to for winter. I'm wondering about letting my car sit for a month or so during car season because I don't drive it a lot...

I mean it might keep an injector from actually being stuck due to rust but if moisture in the fuel becomes an issue it's still gonna wreak havoc.

And if I was trying to be a "****ing dickhead" it would have been worded more along the lines: "hey dip shit, that wont work". So go **** yourself

My car will sit for a month sometimes in the summer and winter without issues. When I start it I always let it get to operating temp before shutting it off. You get all kinds of issues if you don't.
I have E85 stored in a 55 gal drum off the ground that has been there for going on 3 years and still tests 85%. Not saying I am going to the track with it but it will drive around town just fine. I have been wondering if E85 tests 85% does it still retain it's octane value?

I put Lucas ethanol treatment in every vp racing jug that has e85. This is weather I use it right away or within a couple months.

I also store my car for the winter months with 91 fuel. My car sits for 5-6 months in winter.

I’ve had e85 sit in the tank for 2 years and it tested 85% and AF was still perfect.

Interesting, random question anyone diluting some into regular gas to get rid of it? I have like 10 gals sitting in my tank since last year. Gotta start up a new engine, rather not use that fuel. Thinking of dumping 4-5 gallons in my non-ff. F150 and top it off with ~20 Gallons of of gas in. Dunno if that'd cause issues. Or better off just driving around without beating on it to use up the fuel.

I drain 91 fuel out of my tank quite often then put ethanol in it. I'm running a return fuel system and my pumps run full time, so it's fairly easy to do.

You got a friend who runs e85 and has a wide band? Test it and give it to them for scientific research purposes.

I've let it sit for nine months.....it tested identical to the day I pumped it, right at 85%

Honestly, I've long lost the idea that E85 is something to worry about any more than any other fuel. In fact, I worry less about it than E10 pump gas. That crap goes south FAST. Just ask my mower.

All I've ever done is fill the tank if it's going to sit for a while. Checked my fuel filter this year and it looks clean as can be. If you want to start it just make sure it gets up to full temp.

I fill the gas tank full(e85)and leave it(no starting up) for 6-7 months.(MN) While it still test(e85) what it should. I wont get on it(throttle) till I put fresh gas in.
