Honestly, getting attacked by a cat is far worse than any exotic pet/creature that has ever bitten/stung me.

Unless you are around my friend which so happens to work for OSU in pest control means through their Agricultural center outside of Wooster Ohio, he has 2 Scorpion species which for all intents and purposes would either send you to the ICU or 6 feet under they are both Fattails the Androctonus Austrailis and Bicolor

yes these two give me nightmares about putting my shoes on if I was visiting North Africa or the Middle East.

Friend bought 50 acres and we went and marked the perimeter. Found a couple deer stands and a stone bridge which was cool. It's swampy land on the river here in South Carolina. Came across this little guy and took his mug. Was on a 5 Gallon deer feeder. No camel spider but they can get big. View attachment 1592595
You're making me homesick. I'm from the marshes of the low country.

I have never been bitten by an argiope, but I have read that it is not as bad as a bee/wasp sting. Most spider bites go unnoticed. Hell, I got stung/bit multiple times by something nasty a few weekends ago (high likelihood of a scorpion based on the effect it had) and I didn't even notice until I took a shower that night.

A small tarantula with visible fangs is about as bad as a small bee/wasp sting. A full-grown red-tail boa bite is about like getting slapped with a grill brush and shoved in the process. I know that one for damn sure haha.

I hate cats.

I try and tell people all the time: these look like what give nightmares to demons in Hell. But all they want is to kill and eat other critters you really don’t want hanging around. Despite their looks, these are good guys.

If there was a 3-foot version of them that ate cats, I'd let my yard be a sanctuary for 'em.
