Pretty sure I just had my first one. Scared the shit out of me! I was walking through the plant at work then all of a sudden felt like I was having a heart attack. Minor chest pain, dizziness, felt like impending doom. I sat down in a A/C chilled room and felt mostly better in about 5-10 minutes.

Anybody have experience with this? I'd like to hear your stories and what you do/have done to prevent and deal with it. I'm 35 years old and don't think it has happened to me before.

When did you have your last meal? Sounds like the possibility you could have low blood sugar. The walking used up the last of your energy that your body was storing.

But I definitely second seeing a doctor.

I definitely plan on going to get checked out ASAP just to be safe. I had eaten a sandwich not long before this. No history of blood sugar issues either.

Your body is always changing so it's hard to pin point how and what. I know that if I don't eat sometimes I turn into a raging beast and I feel "off" but I know why.

I predict I'll have one if I have to give up my allocation for a GT350.... On a serious note, go get lab work done and chat at your doctor. As was stated above, your body changes, and this could be stress related, or something else. Your body usually provides signs (pain, or weird symptoms) when something is amiss. Good luck.

Definitely go get an EKG done- it doesn't cost much, and it'll tell you if it was pulmonary-related or a panic attack.

Panic attacks suck. I have a small stash of 0.5mg benzos for severe panic attacks only (had the same bottle since February since I don't use them unless I absolutely need them). Basically it feels like alarms are going off- that feeling you get when a fire alarm goes off without warning. Your chest gets tight with pain, you feel feverish, you sweat... If you're in a situation with chronic stress, they can happen often. If it was indeed a panic attack, do not let a doctor prescribe you benzos or SSRIs or anything as a permanent fix- it will only make things worse. Determine the root cause and address that instead.

A blood sugar crash can have a similar effect, but you'll find it also comes with uncontrollable shaking, general weakness, and light-headedness.

You may have had some kind of cardiac event or your blood sugar crashed, along with being dehydrated. Get an EKG and a glucose tolerance test. Sometimes, disturbing life events can also come into to play with anxiety /panic attacks.

As others have stated... the Doc is a must. An anxiety attack (referred to as Panic Disorder) can present a dramatically increased risk of heart attack and heart failure. So, even if it was an anxiety attack, you still need urgent attention.

I have had several anxiety attacks in the past. Seems to come out of nowhere, and totally unrelated to my mood. And yes, I thought I was dying. Some scary stuff.

How old are you? Any stressful situations transpire lately? I'm 37 and had one 4 years ago but my situation was a snowball of crap that turned into a huge boulder. It sucks and to this day I feel it but buddy if you need help PM ME and let's talk, I sat in a parking lot totally stressed out and maybe 5 miles away from work and couldn't drive and was shaking, I called in PTO and drove home disturbed.

Also like others have said meds are not the answer and you can overcome this! Mental health is no joke just as bodily! The mind runs the body, remember that.

I can almost guess something tragic is pushing your anxiety. A word to the wise, surround yourself with people that are positive and want see you in a better state.

It definitely sounds like you experienced a panic attack. You just gave a classic description of one.

I get them way more often than I’d like.

Pick your poison.

To build on this.
Mines tied heavily to my stomach. I was sick for a long time, and dealt with stomach related issues (lost 40lbs in 3 weeks, in the beginning) daily for the better part of a decade. Though I’ve be better, body-wise, for a few years the damage was done to my mind and it can trigger an episode when I get in situations that I got sick in before. My biggest issue is the unwanted memories from the sickness come flooding back and the thought of going through it again terrifies me. 4 times of almost dying from it, and the last time the doctors said it was so bad that if it happened again I probably wouldn’t make it. Which result in weekly check ups for almost 2 years. So it screwed me up pretty bad, and towards the end I was beginning to give up, tired of fighting. I can’t travel at all, I have overwhelming anxiety when it comes to vacations so I rarely take one. Last one was 4 days in January of 2018, had to eat Valiums like candy to somewhat tolerate the traveling. I haven’t eaten out with friends in years. I could go on and on. Now what I’ve learned is this you have to not think about it, and it’s a challenge. Get something to keep you occupied; the less you think about the better. With the little that interests me I keep my mind fixed on them. The fear will always be a challenge to overcome as it’s very real to you and if your mind is like mine you’ll dwell on it making it worse. Surround yourself with things that comfort you. Mine are my dogs, and they can tell when it happens. Address now before it takes over your life, don’t become a hermit like I did. I can tell you it’s one of the hardest things I’m still trying to overcome.

Pick your poison.
