It can't be that big of a deal it's that heavy if it can go 0-100 and back to 0 in 10.6 seconds. Yeah it would be nice if it was lighter. But it's not going to stop me from eventually getting one anyway.
TREED!!!
You beat me to it Steve!

2020 Corvette 3600 lbs/ 495 HP = 7.27 lb/hp
2017-2019 Camaro ZL1
3880 lbs/650 HP = 5.97 lb/hp
2020 GT500
4250 lbs/760 HP = 5.59 lb/hp
2019 Corvette ZR1
3560 lbs/ 755 HP = 4.72 lb/hp

I predict all three GM cars to be faster around the road course. The GT500 will be the 2nd fastest on the drag strip.

The 4250# curb weight makes sense if you just tack a bunch of shit onto a GT350 without any consideration for weight reduction. It's not shocking, just disappointing and proves that development of this car wasn't a priority inside Ford. Ford spent a bunch of time and R&D dollars on the flat plane crank on the GT350, which could have been invested in weight reduction or greater performance enhancing items. I am guessing that they spent a bunch of time and R&D dollars on the DCT with the GT500.

We'll see after they are in the wild.

Makes the car performance even better if you ask me. Pretty impressive that it blows away the HC in that regard for the same weight range.
Was hoping the car would have come in the ZL1 LE weight range which makes GMs feat even more impressive

Ford never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Everyone was laughing at the hellcat for being a pig and now this thing is over 4200 lbs. just wait until you add fluids and a driver, it’ll be knocking on 5000 lbs.
Curb weight is wet. Fluids. So with me it's 4400

Hello everyone. I'm here to eat all the crow I promised I would during the last debate about weight. To those who were proven correct, congratulations. I was VERY wrong.

Jesus Christ..... does this mean Kaneda was close to being right about something? I'm ashamed to even say it.

Bruhhhhh, we all know if it's the top Mustang available you'll own it at some point . :D :D

Just don't regret selling the last one to get the new one when the time comes.

race weight of 4k+driver, not horrible

ROFL.. buyers remorse already and the car hasnt even delivered, eh?

Im sure that was the carbon car with the insane sticky tires and 25oz. wheels.

The base car is going to be NO HERO around any road course with 4200+ lbs... bet on that.

Ford completely shit the bed here, and i knew it was going to happen being an s550 owner and knowing all the extra weight packed into this chassis design.

EDIT: I'd be surprised if a base car did 0-100-0 in 12 seconds.

I think the missed opportunity was the introduction of a CF engine cradle. Or, possibly an aluminum one like the ZL1. If they designed the cradle for both the 350 and 500, then both cars could have dropped about 100lbs and both would have been significantly improved. Lighter cradle and the rear seat delete and then they would have been getting close to 4k lbs and that would have been significant. The design team should have been forced to a 3999 lb weight limit for the track version and invested the time and resources to the cradle and frame rails and option list to get there, sharing the components with the 350. I'm not sure where all the engineering hours went, the DCT is shared with C8, so how much resources did it really take.

Where did all those years go?

are stuck on stupid lately? the base car is likey faster in that regard. As wella s im even more excited to get it more than ever

how so? everyone already speculated 4200lbs, guesss what, it is. guess what else, thats likely with all the goodies. so figure 4100 in my setup. dont turn into another POOR thats trying to justify your inability to purchase. be happy with your 900hp auto turbo gt that cant run 9s and enjoy the show :)
