Would be interesting to see a weight comparison over the years starting with the 93 Cobra. I think the 13/14 GT500s were around 3,875, if I recall correctly.

93 Cobras were around 3350 so a 900-lb weight gain over the years.

The DCT itself is what? 140-ish pound difference alone? Then take those upgraded braking components which probably add another 30 plus the S550 chassis weight gain and all the additional cooling and wiring (yes, wiring) and it's believable.

A couple of things to take away from this..

1.) It's heavier than we would've liked.
2.) It's performance numbers WITH the weight are ridiculous.
3.) Once they get in consumers hands and weight starts coming off, this mother ****er is going to fly.

ANYONE that I've sold an allocation to, or anyone that bought one somewhere else...I'll personally take your allocation if you no longer want it.

It never has.
I meant weight wise. I like Dodge products.

I was curious what the competition weighed:

3883 / 1761 (coupe w/manual)
3944 / 1789 (coupe w/automatic)
4113 / 1866 (conv. w/manual)
4148 / 1882 (conv. w/automatic)
3820 / 1732 (ZL1 1LE – est.)

Challenger Hell Cat Red Eye is listed as 4446

Lots of truth here. Numbers are numbers, it's all benchracing until you sit in something, hit the gas and mess your pants.

It's all shits and giggles 'til someone giggles and shits, right? Best not say that too loud or Kaneda will come popping out of a barrel Donkey Kong style and derail the thread...

Now it will be even more impressive if it can be the all around champ people are claiming. If Ford can make this car feel and handle like a nimble car then props to them!

Wait to see a few track times.. This thing is even more impressive now at that weight.

Rear seat delete should have been part of the Handling Package. Saves ~31lbs, would have lowered the weight to just under the 4200lb threshold. It is unobtanium instead, only being available on the Willy Wonka cars.

That just means you have to make your own.

I'm a little disappointed but not surprised at this. A little bit of me was hoping that it would be around the 4000# range. I was very skeptical on the weight. Add a big blower and huge brakes and that means more weight. Look the GTR isn't light but the engineering to make it do what is does @ the time was magnificent. I'm confident that the Ford people have done their homework also and this thing will make us proud. All I can say is the C8 Z variations are going to have the same issues as the GT500. High price tag, and more weight. The performance will be there also.

That just means you have to make your own.

It's a composite panel and a small bag of hardware. I already installed the same hardware the GT500 will use (it is the same as used on the GT350R cars) on my last GT350. Ford Racing no longer sells the kit so at this point you'd have to piece it together from service hardware.
