I'm gonna be in town for 3 nights for a concert in September (at the new chase center). Any input on where to stay or more importantly, places to avoid? Just glancing around it looks like anywhere halfway nice is gonna end up being $300+ a night which is fine.

Pacifica has some really nice hotels along the coast. Can't remember any hotel names of hotels but it might be cheaper than SF.

Tough to call. I used to live in Alameda and partied in SF back in the day. SF ain't what it used to be. I used to hang on Union Street and Chinatown. It's a very expensive place nowadays. Roll the dice, brother....

Went there once and wasn't impressed. Meir? (Spelling) woods was nice. People shitting in the streets and homeless yelling at everyone as you walk down the street.

ya its been a long time since I've been there, the hobos were bad enough then.

I'll basically get in Thursday in time to grab dinner, a drink or two and probably go to bed. Friday I'll have time to wander around most of the day until the concert at night. Saturday I'll run over to Marin to see my aunt for a little and then have the rest of the afternoon/evening to kill.

I've done Alcatraz twice, the aquarium, Muir Woods etc...

Stay in Florida, I hate SF. Curious what band your coming to see literally on the other side of the country (assuming your location is current)?

Don't stay anywhere close to a highway. "People" will smash your windows and grab what they can and take off back onto to the interstate in a jiffy, especially if you have out of state plates.

One of the coolest hotels I've ever stayed in, and definitely the one with the coolest bar, is The Clift. Not cheap but worth a look.

Metallica is doing a 20th anniversary of the S&M concert. That's the only reason I'm doing this. I've told myself since the last one 20 years ago if they ever did it again I'd find a way to go.

I damned sure won't be staying on the ground floor anywhere and Im not getting a vehicle. I usually just lift/uber around

thats one that I was looking at. All the nicer ones are in the same range, even after my flight I have over 300K credit card points so gonna use a chunk of em on the room too.
