I'm planning a hydraulic conversion but I won't be using mcleod's kit. I'll be piecing mine together using a wilwood slave but only because I'm going with a tilton floor mounted pedal setup. Otherwise the simplicity of the cable clutch can't be beat.

Would doing your way keep it off the firewall and eliminate the issues with the cylinder hitting the motor

Yes, the floor mounted pedal box has the master cylinders mounted directly to it so there will be nothing on the firewall. With my manual brake setup, I can feel the firewall flex slightly under hard braking which is one of the reasons I'm converting.

MDL was interested in making a kit for the 1996-2004.
I was talking to them and they were interested in making one for me.
If you have the cash and are ready, I would start talking to them.
They actually answer their email.

Get a McLeod RXT and call it a day. It’s a huge difference! The clutch pedal is super light. Feels like a Honda Civic.
