C8 Corvette making potential GT500 buyers rethink their options

How dare you all criticize the C8!!?? You cant use GMs history nor logic, physics and experience against it, just accept that C8 is the greatest car of all time and "turning the car world upside down" - ( as reported by every instagram/youtube influencer and highschool student on the internet)
It kind of is on the C8 to prove what it can do, but if its true, yeah it absolutely will turn the sports car market upside down for the price.
And Im as hardcore Ford blue as they come.
Same here, after 7 Ford performance oriented vehicles since my 1989 Thunderbird SC in 1989, I cant believe I'm considering a Chevy...It almost hurts to think about, but then I look at the C8 specs and design, and the pain subsides into "holy shit, is that real?"

Some YouTubers are already lauding the C8's performance even though we don't have a single solid number on it yet. People are expecting a friggin' base and Z51 Corvette to come out of the gate swinging hard. It'll be a good performer, for sure, but I doubt the base and Z51 will put up anything (outside of its 0-60) that's going to set the world on fire. Now, when the "good" Vettes come out, that will be exciting.
Speaking of performance, Ford has released that the GT500 can do 0-100-0 in under 800 feet at 10.6 seconds. That 10.6 looks impressive at first glance, but when you break it down to its parts, not so much. Let's say it takes 3-ish seconds to stop from 100. That's still over 7 seconds to reach 100. That's fast, for sure, but it's not groundbreaking. One of the engineers stated in an interview that the 0-60 will be "mid 3s or better." He said they're still shooting for a target and that's why they haven't released an "official" number yet. So, 0-60 in, say, 3.5. It takes another 4 seconds to reach 100? Crappy gearing like I expected [so far.] They really need to stack 1-5 closely together. From the looks of it, it currently has 1-4 poorly spaced and, like somebody mentioned in another thread, THREE overdrive gears. That's ridiculous.

Nobody here thinks the base/Z51 is going to go out and destroy all records. It will however destroy everything in its price bracket and thats why everyone is excited. For the car that will hang with top cars for a price normal people can afford.
The GT500 guys literally do think their car is going to beat everything though

I would assume not has much as a s/c engine once past 80mph, hence it will obviously run better than a c7 z51.. I think 11.6 is a good average 1/4 for this car
