So I have a few I am looking at, and honestly I can't decide. This will not be conceal carry, but I do want the ability to do so if needed. I currently conceal carry a P365 and VP9SK. It will be a range gun, home defense. My biggest thing is it has to be DA/SA. I don't want striker fired. Here is what I am considering so far:

Sphinx SDP
HK USP9
CZ P07
HK P30
Sig P226 & Legion 226

What else is worth looking into? Money isn't a huge concern. I am honestly leaning heavily toward the Sphinx at this point. Thoughts?

If money isn't a concern, and you want something top of the line, why not consider a custom-shop small frame/compact 1911?

Wilson Combat does some gorgeous ones. There's something magical about a 1911 that has been stone-polished to sliding perfection, and they're tack-drivers.

I've held/owned/fired a lot of modern poly-frame firearms, and there's nothing quite like the tried and trued 1911 platform with modern touches.

CZ P07 with a few Cajun Gun Works trigger upgrades is about as good as it gets in the polymer world. I've only held a Sphinx, never shot one, so I can't compare, great fit and finish though. Never was impressed with the P226.

But like @CV355 stated above, a nice 1911 will be my next range toy.

I have a CZ that Cajun waved their magic gunsmith wand over, it’s my favorite pistol. However, if you don’t spend the $500 on upgrades, it’s a pig. Mine had a 12lbs trigger from the factory.

I also have a P226. The P226 is a reliable duty weapon that is good at everything. I’ll eventually send it off to Grey Guns to get the action cleaned up.

Depends on your budget man.

Personally, I really REALLY wanted a 1911. I was all over the place, looking at some of the more expensive ones by Dan Wesson, the higher end springfield armory, etc

Eventually, decided on a Remington R1 Enchanced 1911 .45. My best friend, IL State Trooper and a true shooter, fired this gun and for the money, this thing shoots just like a Wilson Combat/Nighthawk all day and is made super well.

Granted, it is not built perfectly, hand made, but, I've shot so much better with it and it looks killer too.

CZ Shadow 2 Orange, A01-LD, or TSO, Dan Wesspon PM9, or Valor, Walther Q5 SF, Sig p320 Legion. Anything DW for 45.

not at my post...
For me a range gun and home defense gun are two separate guns.

What caliber do you want?

Honestly if I were to combine the two I’d buy a 357 8 capacity revolver and shoot 38 at the range all day long.
But that’s just my opinion and everyone has one.

357 magnum is damn near perfect, very nasty ballistics, no semi auto pistol is going to punch at that level, save for 10mm with the right ammo/pressures. Great in a night table drawer or glove box.

Out of the ones you listed, either the HK USP9 or the Sig 226. Had a USP compact and loved it. Shot the Sig a number of times and enjoyed shooting it. I am a die hard 92FS fan. Good luck.

Get a hand cannon.
Serious answer is I also second a 357 revolver, I might be biased though. Since everything you listed is gibberish to me.

Amen. I love that round so much i had to have 2 of them LOL. There was a time though, when it was a little harder to find 357 mag in my lovely state. That all changed in 2016 and now i can find it anywhere.

For a house gun, I have a Glock 19 Roland Special with a 33 round Glock mag in one of those bed rail holsters. Swap for a smaller mag and I carry it IWB Appendix. It is a very capable platform.

I call it an MP-5 you can stuff in your pants, or an open class carry gun, as one feller put it.

Nothing like a wheel gun. I laugh in the face of those that dismiss them.

Had one of those too. Notice I said had. With a scope. My arthritic hands wouldn't take it anymore.

It’s something for me to look forward to when I finally get over my illness and get some meat on my bones. Plus I like toys that want to kill you. Reason I’m heavily considering the 10 gauge shotgun I found.
