Maybe,...but I doubt it. I like my fun cars to be something you don’t see everyday. The value equation is hard to pass up though.

If weren't hard for getting a new bass boat I'd consider the C8...and yes bassboats cost as much as a new vette

If manage to wad up my GT500, I just might replace it with a C8. I recall reading speculation that the Grand Sport version will have 600 hp, naturally aspirated. If true, that would make a pretty appealing track toy.
even with 500 horse the speed times are going to be fantastic. The c8Z is going to be mind blowing.

Still struggling with the no manual option in the GT500 and now the Vette. I just cant wrap my head around an auto.

I'd have already committed to something if the manual was available.

Loved the look of the C7 so I decided the wife and I needed one. Until I went to try it out and found it was built for drivers a few inches shorter. Okay once inside but a real drag to get in and out of. I couldn't shake the feeling that having to crawl in head first and then awkwardly swivel your legs into the car makes a guy look like a bit of a loser desperately trying to get humped.

Hope the C8 has more head, leg and entry room because those guys are definitely gettin' some.

That's the thing, I am in the market.

I went to a Ford dealer that I have been doing business with for over 20 years. I was going to replace my GT350. They wanted $90k and refused to take the ADM off. I asked about the new GT500. They told me $120k for everyone else, but "may" sell one to me for $115k.

Why would I do that? I can buy a Ferrari f430 for $75k and a 458 Italia for about $120k. I would much rather have a 2013-2014 Ferrari than a new Mustang.

Aren't you in N. Va? If so the personal property tax deters us from high dollar purchases. It makes much more sense, for the money.

It is fun to drive a new corvette off the lot but after you have shown it to everyone its not new anymore.
A year from now they will be for sale all over the place with super low miles and the depreciation bullet is some other guys azz.
To soon old, to late smart.
That being said I would love to have one, my insurance carrier, not so much.

When I’m in the market for a toy (many years from now), the C8 will definitely be on the list of potentials. But if I was in the market for a car right now...I would be waiting on the C8Z06. I like the new GT500, but I can’t see myself paying $100K on one even before ADM.

You must have never built a corvette before... I work on C7 vettes literally everyday at my shop making over 4 digit power all the time and trust me depending on your hp goals it is about the same price or a little cheaper to build the mustangs...

I'm not chasing HP/TQ numbers ever again. It's a fools errand. LOL I don't even mod my cars anymore. I just get in and drive until the next new/fast/quicker factory stock comes out and then get that.

Plus, I have a 17 GT PP1 and a 17 GTCS which are very fun to drive. And I have a Hellcat Challenger which is going to be very close to the same as the GT500 when it comes to street driving anyway.

I think he was referring to vehicle purchase price and ADM’s. I could be wrong though.

Nope... you are correct. The retail price and ADM's are ridiculous. The concept of the car you can afford on a secretary's salary is distant memory.

If I am spending well over $100k... its going to be a low miles Italian exotic.

Yep. I am in PWC and the property taxes are F'ing NUTS here. 3.8%. So a new GT500 will cost me almost $4k a year in taxes alone, just for the privilege of using it on public roads.

Last year, for 7 cars, my county auto property taxes very close to $12K. $4k more than our house.

When I retire, I won't be able to afford to live here.

I wouldn’t put much stock into those rumors. The General attempted a 7.0L LT based engine for the C7Z and scrapped it as they could not meet emissions targets with the HP goal they had in mind. That is why the C7Z was SC.

Don't forget the stupid allocation hoops Ford wants you to jump through to get a new GT500 as well.
Unreal.
