If you drive on the street a lot I would recommend the 6r80

Just a brief update on mine.
1st time to the track since the 6R80 swap. Shift points were too low (only 6,000 rpm) and I forgot my laptop so I couldn't change them.
My car only has subframe connectors so it twists like a pretzel and is unloading on launch so it's spinning.
But got some data and have made some changes for the next planned track outing.

do a full in debt review on your car on YouTube when you can.

"full in DEBT review"..

I know this must have
been a text speller fixer error..or maybe not..but I am definitely going to use this phrase in the future....truer words were never spoken!!
LOL.
I'll try to do a video this week and go over my car.
Sorry I've had it out there so long I just take for granted everyone knows about it.

That’s great that US-Shift stepped up and took care of the problem as quick as they did. I’m so unbelievably tempted to swap out my 4r70w for a 6r80. I have a mvb with a ratchet shifter and still love clicking through the gears. I did see that one of the companies that make the paddle shifters also has a sequential type floor shifter for the 6r80. I’ll have to look into that more.

Regarding the intake, can’t they fill in and build up the areas with welding aluminum into it to reshape the ports to match up instead of the epoxy? That way it’s permanent and no worries of the same thing happening again.

BTW
I have always loved your car and the layout of the intake piping and engine bay.

Great choice!
I picked up a Billet 6R Lasalsa barely used unit. Can’t wait to get in in my Fox with a built Coyote and twins.

Going on almost a year and a half with the 6R80 and I’m pleased to say it’s still fantastic. I had a small issue with my controller at one point and USSHIFT was very fast about getting me a new one. I had to send it in for the trans brake firmware update anyways and I had it back within a week of sending it out.
I still recommend this swap for anyone thinking about going auto. Thankfully a bunch of people have done it and everyone included something to help along the way making it easier for people in the future

My buddy is still having issues with his. A few posts up the dude couldn't use his transbrake even after he sent the controller back to get it updated. Seems like a roll of the dice on weather you'll have issues or not. I really want to do a 6r80 swap but I've been scared away lol.

Mine is doing great, I’m glad I did the 6r80 instead of a th400. I never had the transbrake issue but I did send my controller in to usshift for the firmware update since I snapped my Achilles and couldn’t drive it anyway. I sent it in Monday and got it back Friday. Their customer service/support is great.

The first controller he had was defective, wouldn't shift at WOT. So he took it to a shop that had experience with the controller and yeah, the controller was junk so they sent him a new one. Now it shifts fine at WOT but normal driving it sometimes acts like it don't know what to do. It could still be learning though.

Quick update on my 6R80 with US Shift controller -
I had been pulling the factory tachometer signal right off the computer (my car is a 98) and it seemed to be working fine.
But after talking to Kevin at US Shift and he indicated that no one with the recent firmware has had any additional problems after a burnout with the OSS error, I decided to obtain my tach signal differently.
On the 99-04 models, US shift recommends a Tach Adapter. I got one from MSD and installed onto my 98.
I then used this to trigger the tach input for the Quick 6 controller.
Took it out in the street yesterday and made some test hits.
So far no error codes. So at this point, it might be fixed. Will have to goto track to verify 100%.

Found a problem in my ignition system.
My MSD coils that are over 12 years old, have some rotted connections. I attribute this to some water/moisture getting in there over the years.
So a new set of coils and a new set of spark plug wires later and the car seems to be running stronger.
I also installed a MSD Tach adapter to feed a clean RPM signal to my Quick 6 trans controller. So far no OSS Error codes anymore while doing a burnout.

True test will be next time I goto the track.

Had my new tuner riding shotgun watching the laptop and doing datalogs.

She had no fear. Better than some grown men that have sat in that passenger seat. LOL

I will soon be on my 3rd controller. Went to the track tonight and after doing the burnout I got the oss error. The trans didn't shift right during the run. The 1st controller wouldn't connect to a laptop and wouldn't write or save tune files.
