not at my post...
I'll be 31 in November. I've been working full time for 17 years, and if 2000 hours is an average year, I've done over 25 years of work so far. I hit a complete burnout state last year, made a major life change earlier this year and went "oh my God, where did my 20's go, and did I ever have a friggin' childhood?" It really messed me up for a few months.

I get it, I'm not 55 so I can't relate completely. I do seem to relate to you guys far more than my own age group though. My advice is (just like in LNC, with what Buckwheat1 said) just focus on the present. Appreciate what you have, family, good memories, the works... The past is in the past, there's still more future to go. There you go, most positive thing I've probably ever said on SVTP. :)

I figured you were much much older based on your posts :D

I'm shocked at the ages of some of you guys. I really didn't think there were many past 50 and figured almost none past 60.

VegasMichael, you need a midlife crisis like a younger girlfriend, a Harley, badass boat or a supercharged Mustang. Any of those will help rev up the testosterone.

Also, at least watching my dad age, he actually started having a lot more fun in life in his early-mid 50s as that is when his business started making real good money and that is about when my brother left the house. Almost 64 now and he's not noticeably slowing down yet.

Anyway, fight the age and do what it takes to keep having fun in life. I highly recommend a combination of fitness, fun women, fast vehicles and a moderate intake of alcohol.

As far as me, at 35 and as a new father I'm feeling that domesticated pull a bit but I'm certainly not going to be Mr. Rogers or anything.

Dont worry about the things that you can't control. You are mourning your own life, when you should be getting ready to enjoy the best years. Hopefully by now you have learned how to live... you know your fkn dumb for the first 40 years, those years are wasted for everyone. Sit back, enjoy and live the years that you CAN control to their fullest.

It sucks. Happened to me back in early March. I haven't been the same since.
Friends asking me what's wrong.
Family asking me what's wrong.
And as much as I tried to hide it my boss asking me what's wrong.
My job is my life and I got worried that she noticed my mental state.
I've always been her rock and she mine.
I'm better now and she knows it but Jesus this hasn't been fun.
It's like all of a sudden you realize that that many years are gone and you can't go back and change things.
You want to but you can't.
So I will march on. And I apologize to everyone I irritated while dealing with this.
Note: An old saying came to mind: Getting old ain't for sissies.
By jingo.
No worries brother!
Age is a just a number. Don't let it consume you. Live each day as best you can and enjoy the day that have in the moment. Take a deep breath and take it all in.

damn now I'm really scared to turn 32 next month

Nah, life hasn't yet begun to **** you. I ran my 1st triathlon at 32, no big deal...actually did two that year. FWIW I am 42 now, things hurt more, but that's about it...turning 30 was a bigger deal for me than 40, was already at peace with getting older by then.

Should start a poll to see how old the average SVTP poster is.

OP, as long as you can still get lead in your pencil life isnt that bad...and if you can't, they make a pill for it.

We've done that, and FYI, I hit 60 in June. I honestly don't feel it. Wife and I stopped at Home Desperate for a shit load of baseboard I need to replace this weekend.

Born and raised Brockton. Living in Naples.
I can see 55 being a "shit.. what have i done with all these years?" kind of a milestone.

By that time though, i better be really thinking about (or in) retirement and joining @BrunotheBoxer in some off-duty shenanigans.

I will wait for you.

On a side a note the dishwashah said today she’d consider a cruise this winter out of San Diego with a few days spent there before.
I’ll let you know for sure how this plays itself out.

OP, don't think about being 55 is a punishment, thrive on it! You have seen things and have experience! Age is a number, it's how you feel and live life that means the most and this is coming from a 37 year old.

I had to make a life change and I haven't felt better! My hair grew back, and got darker which was a total shock. Don't stress on a number and don't think about, be happy and...

I retired six years ago, and I am going back to work full time next week. I can’t stand being retired. Not only that, I’ve got two neighbors, both 70, who would kill to go back to work.

Age is just a state of mind.
