I started watching the Vietnam one but haven’t finished it. Grandpa was over there wouldn’t talk about it though. I’ll have to check out WW2. I just finished the 50 min one on the new cercoughugus the built for Chernobyl it was pretty good.

The Chernobyl one on HBO is good too.

I think I've watched most of the war documentaries on Netflix. Im obsessed with WW1 and 2. One day my 9 year old son starts asking me about Germany and the Nazis. I basically told him Hitler tried to send it, but failed in the end lol. It is spooky to think about all the what if's though. If only he had listened to his many seasoned war generals instead of his own personal obsessions. Or what if one of the assassination plots were successful? Millions of lives could have been saved. Brutal times back then.

I have watched Chernobyl, The Pacific, Our War, and of course Band of Brothers. Air Assault!

I am about finished with WWII in Color. The technology Documentaries are interesting for WWII. I think AMC had a show called Manhattan about the Manhattan Project that was far more into the drama side than anything.

I plan to watch Vietnam in Color soon. My father served.

As far as how close the world came to hell in WWII, I think we got lucky.

Had Japan not acted foolishly we may have waited too long. Had Hitler not become to overzealous, he may have succeeded. Think about it, if he would have held off on attacking Britain until he was more dug in and if he would have waited to expand East and South.

The Last Days of WWII chronicles the unrelenting Allied advance through Europe that finally crushed Hitler’s Third Reich. First-hand footage and expert commentary follow the decisive ground battles and strategic bombing missions from D-Day through the capture of Berlin. It also examines the after-effects of the war, from the wrenching drama of the Nuremberg Trials to the revelations of the Nazis’ last, desperate acts, including their attempts to hide looted treasures and develop secret weapons.

Have you seen I saw a preview when my Dad and I saw The Mule WW1 in color re-done? We saw a preview in the theatre and both thought it looked good.

Agreed..We got very lucky in WWII, had Hitler and his inner circle not been so inept, they may have very well won that one.

I feel we had some good luck in WW2 but the axis powers had their work cut out for them. After the Nazis seized France, Hitler thought he had won the war and expected Britain to accept defeat. I feel Hitler wanted to avoid Britain because he couldn't blitzkrieg across the pond, and he surely didn't want to tangle with Murica. What if Hitler would have continued eastward after conquering Poland? The allies might have sat back and let him defeat the commies?

There's an old PBS (I think) special from the 80's on YT that talks to Vietnam Vets about when they first killed a Charlie, their time in country, etc.., It's nuts but good. WWII, specifically, documentaries I watched so many. This Day in WWII, WWII in color, WWII in 3D, etc.., I've watched it plus I have a stack of DVD's as high as my leg with WWII documentaries.

Definitely watch Peter Jackson's "They Shall Not Grow Old" colorized documentary on WW1. All narration is done by actual British soldiers that were there and it tells about the real conditions and reality of what life was like and what the war was truly like. I thought it was great and there are a few very moving parts hearing what a few of them had to say.

I'm currently rewatching Band of Brothers.

Ken Burns does good work.

I've enjoyed most of the stuff listed so I won't double it up.

Check out Speed and Angel's if you haven't seen it. Film that follows the last two pilots to go through f14 training.

I love anything to do with how the war machines are built and operated. I love all kinds of aviation and submarine stuff.

There's a Candaian show that followed pilots going through f18 training, that I've been meaning to watch but I can't recall the name of it. **edit** Show's called Jetstream, 8x1hr episodes. Add it to my list

I miss the old history channel so much. Military channel used to have great programming on it around the same time but I haven't sent military channel stuff in a while.

...and Maximus said to Commodus, "the time for honoring yourself will soon come to an end."
