I agree with this.....but damn, I also remember that crap with "saddles" blue car. Even had the infamous ten minute youtube "walk-around" vid with him going on and on how perfect the car was and its the "cleanest terminator on svterformance BAR NONE.....PERFECTION". Funny thing was.....he never started the car.

Someone bought it sight unseen.....they get it shipped.....blower sounds like marbles and had a whole lot of other issues too. Not quite perfection
I'm not saying it can't happen, but.
For instance if I was buying your car, I'd know how it was treated & built to the masterpiece it is. Looking at old threads, pic, vids, & phone calls.

Thanks for the help folks! All great advice. I found a few more in the area that are in great condition. Its just hard to tell sometimes if its been dogged on. I considered going the cheaper route for the mach1 but for some reason it just doesnt have the feel the cobra does.

Don't rush it man and personally I would look over any car in person, I bought a terminator off this forum from a member and car looked super clean, but it was absolutely beat to shit and needed so much work. Spend the time to look the car over in person and don't get burned like I did.

These are performance cars. I don't understand when a Whipple is installed or TVS or turbo everyone is like "COOL", but as soon as someone sees a nitrous button it's stay away or pass.

I have a nitrous button on my car. I have sprayed it twice (and yes I have a hand held with a tune for nitrous in it). Once I spun the tires and the second time the clutch went out. Never sprayed it again because I'm not a huge track guy and never need it on the street (hell it's not even working right now because I installed the window switch in my 65). Does that mean my Cobra was driven harder than any other Cobra out there or abused?

I say check this car the SAME way you would any Terminator you are interested in buying. Visual inspection, compression test, test drive, listen for unusual engine noises or rattling during test drive, see how clutch feels, how does transmission shift, check all electrical items to ensure they work, etc.

I agree there are signs that could cause a person to decide to look at another Cobra, but if you're interested in a car look it over. Don't walk away because you see something and then make an assumption on it. If people do that with my Cobra, if I ever decide to sell it, they will be missing out on a very good Cobra that "IS" taken care of despite what a person sees installed.

The problem I have with nitrous is that, from what I've seen over the years, it's always part of some 'budget build'. It's cheaper to just add nitrous versus a supercharger, etc. so, I've run into people that have nitrous but not the proper equipment to go with it. They'll run it without a tune or use stock plugs, or launch on the bottle, etc. I've run into very few people that really know what they're doing with nitrous.
Now, I've said the same thing about buying a modded Terminator but I bought this one so things can change. Just like you said, I spoke to the prior owner and he seemed to be a responisble and smart guy so I felt safe in buying his car. With your car, I'd feel safe in buying it due to me knowing you and your history.
Now for this car.....he can't speak to the owner or the person who modded the car. That's a minus for me.

All valid points Henry. I agree with you overall, but still feel the OP should do his due diligence and check the car out. If compression is low or the car does not run properly or feel right during the test drive then walk away.

My only point was do not make a judgement based solely on something you "see." Also, some people see a Whipple or TSV and get all excited. However, that does not mean the car was tuned properly to go with the extra boost and that does not mean the extra money was spent on items to support the extra boost.

As for me, I agree a lot of folks do not know what they are doing when it comes to adding nitrous to a Terminator. However, I installed the nitrous myself, had a shop install a nitrous tune for me based on dyno runs and parameters identified from a laptop (i.e. timing and fuel). I also installed a window switch that turned the nitrous on at 3,000 RPMs and turned it off once the RPMs went below 3,000. I never launched off the line over that because the tires would just spin anyway.

Lastly, I have only sprayed my coupe twice. Tires spun the first time and factory clutch went out the second time. So, I upgraded to a 26 spline shaft and McLeod dual clutch set up. But never went back to the track as my 65 was finished and I was messing with it at the time.

I know this is too much information, but if I ever sell this car this can serve as a historical record of my Cobra coupe.

When it comes to these cars, You have to be very careful nowadays. There are WAYYYYYY too many clapped out Terminators out there disguised as "clean cars" with a premium price. I wouldnt be comfortable buying one of these cars in 2019 unless it was a bone stock untuned car or someone who has owned the car awhile and has records of it.
