As exotic as the car looks, it deserves an engine to match.

Just imagine how the engine bay would look with a Gen 2 DOHC LT5 sitting in there. Obviously, it would need improvements to be inline with the power of today.

I could be wrong, but I think there is a lot of potential with that engine.

C8Z is getting a DOHC Twin Turbo LT7.

The LT2 base car has 180-degree headers. It sounds exotic.

If the leaks/rumors are close to reality, that would be really cool. The dual intake plenums look awesome and appropriate for this car.

Hopefully, it will have more displacement than the Blackwing.

Quit living under a rock, bail out has been paid back for the last few years.

False

490/465 from a non Z51 base

495/470 from a Z51 with NPP exhaust that adds the extra 5hp/5tq

Straight from the horses mouth during Jay Leno’s interview with the C8.

Oops

Paid back? Im curious to see that info

did you read what I wrote? its more than just a few HP, as in, more components to attain that performance vs the base model than just a 5chp difference. I suspect you read it as its more than just a fewwwwww horsepower, ie many more more hp than 5.

I will wager that the only difference in acceleration is coming from the tires. The Z51 is primarily a handling package with slightly louder exhaust. If anything, the added aero down force will make it slower on longer runs. But it is about taking turns, not 1/4 mile sprints with the Z51. Basically this is how the Z51 has been on every other vette. I am not sure why someone would expect GM to breathe extra hard on this one. The "adds 5hp" is just for people to get their pants wet. In all likelihood, they will dyno exactly the same.

I don't see why people harp on the Z51 so much, anyway. It's just a very mild handling and appearance package. I scratch my head every time somebody starts talking about the Z51. It's so minimal that the Z51 should just be the standard setup. Unfortunately, there are people out there who need their sports car to ride like a Rolls Royce, hence the base Corvette with its 4x4 stance and unremarkable handling.

Only other thing is the limited slip but on an perfect prepped surface that it would take to acheive that number it likely wouldnt matter. But the limited slip is the #1 reason ill likely be getting the Z51 for. I dgaf what tire it comes on as I will swap them for cup2s regardless

could you add the LSD without ordering the Z51 ? That would be best case. With the engine in the rear it might not need it.
