Some of you guys are smoking crack, thinking that the base C8 has any shot at besting the GT500 in pretty much all performance metrics. It’s simply a bridge too far. A good as the 8 looks on paper, we need to be somewhat reasonable on expectations.

Let’s bring this discussion back down to reality. I will agree that it definitely calls into question the absurdity of some of the GT500’s option costs, but that’s it. We should stay away from the performance argument all together.

Nah, according to the internet, the demon with 500lbs and 80hp more will destroy a gt500, so logically, the C8 with 500lbs and 240hp less will destroy a GT500 as well

c8 will be underpowered on anything after 60MPH...however, I'm not sure what the vette is limited at. It may only get to 190 top speed anyway.
Z06 should remedy all that it comes up short, within a year.

So, are we gonna have to wait until car and driver gets a hold of a GT500 to get weight results?

I think it will be the very rare exception a z51 C8 overtakes my GT350R, in fact, I look forward to meeting them on road courses. C8 grand sport and above is the threat, and while it's a few years out I'll still give em hell.

I already greatly enjoy hunting GT3's, C7's, BMW's, zl1's, z28's, viper's... pretty much everything out there. I expect GT500 to generally dominate most drivers in z51 C8's, clearly the weight will be the Achilles, but with torque on exits and power easy to apply on straights GT500 will do very well. Heck, my R will be enjoying making GT500's work for it too.

I do the same in a 120hp spec miata, you are out lapping with shitty newbies, give yourself a pat on the back not your shelby lol. If you run across a C8Z51 with a driver as competent as you you'll be waving him by

Today's video he just got an MSRP allocation, in the worst state for Ford dealer ADM, CA. My state, I'd have a hard time finding a Chevy dealer that would charge it.

"The total weight of a vehicle without passengers or cargo but with all the components that are needed for it to function properly, such as fuel, engine oil, tools and spare tire, is known as the vehicle’s curb weight."

Full disclosure my R is 40lb lightened and 30HP up, with extra sticky shoes... I agree C8z51 in good hands is formidable.

Where do you go primarily? I think a bunch of us are making a trip to COTA next year, I wouldn't mind seeing how my ACR stacks up against you.

Checkout this video, this is how you sell cars. Chevrolet did doing it right, take notice Ford.

You meant to say, "Checkout this video, this is how you market cars. Chevrolet is doing it right, take notice Ford."

Ford knows how to sell them, just lacking in marketing a bit. In the end the GT500 will sell at MSRP+ for the entire model year. The C8 will sell at MSRP+ for a few months, then end up with $6-8k in discounts.

Where did you get the 500 lbs weight difference between the Demon and 500?

It only takes a measly C7 GS to obliterate an 350R on the road course (equal driver, stock to stock and mod for mod). You are likely out driving the competition.

You dirty dog, you. Looking to puppy kick, eh?

I'm doing PDS events, not actual racing, so the driver skills are novice relative to a Randy Pobst back to back lapping, however it takes a C7 Z06 or more to destroy.

COTA, and you make me laugh, ACR's are setting track records across the country and this should be an obliteration unless we handicap you to 3rd gear. But I'd like to meet and drive with you, lot's of respect for the support you provide here.

I just have a lowly Gen IV ACR, though. A buddy of mine tracks a 2017 GT350R, and we go back and forth. He is a lot better driver than I am haha

The release said the DRY weight was roughly 3350. That's minus all fluids. Assume 3600 as the curb weight.
