New York police slam videos showing officers pelted with objects, drenched with water: 'reprehensible'

I saw this video this morning and got sick to my stomach. People (and I use the term very loosely) in Harlem outright abusing police, drenching them with buckets of water and mocking them as they were making an arrest.

The Police Benevolent Association (PBA) of the City of New York released a statement on the “'Water Bucket' Attacks on Police Officers” putting the blame on lawmakers.

PBA president Patrick Lynch said, “Our anti-cop lawmakers have gotten their wish: the NYPD is now frozen.”

He added that the “attacks” were “the end result of the torrent of bad policies and anti-police rhetoric that has been streaming out of City Hall and Albany for years now.”

Lynch said, “We are approaching the point of no return.”

How much worse can it get? Oh, and nothing about this so far has shown up in the news except on Fox.

and the starting salary for an NYPD officer is like $20k a year, which is just about on par with someone working in a fast food restaurant. It's amazing those guys & gals would even want to risk their lives for 0 compensation.

I’d refuse to patrol the neighborhoods. **** em, let them kill each other, destroy their homes, whatever.

My thoughts exactly. Let them police them selves and see how long that last. They’ll be begging for the police presence to come back. No respect for the Police then screw you.

I am not condoning their actions at all and think it's 100% disrespectful, but the cops probably did enjoy it a little on a such a hot weekend. If not, wouldn't they have made arrests for assaulting an officer?

But like what the OP posted when city as well as state law makers are against you with their messed up policies and you are probably out numbered 12 to 1, making arrest would be hard to down right dangerous as it might be a trigger for a full blown riot situation. Sometimes it is just best to pack it up and leave as these same clowns would probably do something else that would bring them up on law enforcement radar and so be taken down when by themselves at a later time.

I don't disagree. NYPD hates de Blasio.

Umm, $20k?? Let's be realistic... Below is from NYPD:

Starting salary: $42,500
Salary after 5 ½ years: $85,292.
Including holiday pay, longevity pay, uniform allowance, night differential and overtime, police officers may potentially earn over $100,000 per year.

Additional Benefits
  • 27 Paid vacation days after 5 years of service
  • Unlimited sick leave with full pay
  • Selection of medical benefit packages
  • Prescription, dental, and vision coverage
  • Annuity fund
  • Deferred Compensation Plan, 401K and I.R.A.
  • Optional retirement at one half salary after 22 years of service
  • Annual $12,000 Variable Supplement Fund (upon retirement)
  • Excellent promotional opportunities

Why you would want to be a Police officer in today's day and age, I have no idea, but if you do, you got guts!!!!

that depends on where you are at, like Miami and Charleston SC are not bad, but like LA, NYC and Chicago with their totally out of touch and control liberal law makers yes they are nothing short of a nightmare to live and work in.

Now deduct all of the extra's which they list and the taxes, which in NY are the highest in the nation and you get around $35k, my 20 was low but it's still the least in the nation for a city that's the largest in the world.

Even been to Harlem, Bob? Maybe not all but the people and environment are trash. If the cops went hands on with some of the blacks tossing water cries of racism would echo through out the city.

this is the society we live in now, where law enforcement is disrespected on a daily basis, and not to get political, but this became acceptable when that piece of shit racist was in office from 2008-2016 smh
