Do you all think the mid engine idea will stick? I don't think it will myself.

Im a mustang guy. But as I am getting older, the whole modded thing big blower, race gas, e85, rough ride, is getting a bit old. The rear end is growing on me. There is a video of one in blue driving on the highway. it looks good. Its looking good.

After owning my cobra for 16 years, wanting something new and fresh, depending on the price, there may be a 15,000 mile 03 cobra for sale. I keep looking at a c6 z06, orange fury mustang gt. Now I am leaning toward the c8. I had my time with the terminator but I think its time to let it go and start fresh.

Looks like a like a Lamborghini Ferrari vette 3 way that produced a single offspring to me.

Hard pass.

If I wanted a mid engine car, I'd rather get that factory five kit that uses Subaru running gear. At least it doesn't look derivative of literally every other mid engine sports car.

I am in the same boat as you. I drive my car about once a year. The only thing is I could never go NA on a sports car again. This car will have electrical problems for days.

Unless there are numerous hiccups out in the real world with real owners.....I think the mid engine is here to stay for the vette. It has many performance advantages. But this is GM we're talking about, so expect the unexpected I suppose.

It will be interesting to see how bad the backlash is for no stick manual. For me, it's a big deal.....but the reality is true manual cars are dinosaurs and they're on their way to extinction. Younger generations moving into the buying segment in many cases have no clue how to even drive a manual. These modern dc trans are just fantastic performers and the mpg ratings are excellent. I'm sure GM would not be heart broken about only having to tool the assembly line for one transmission.

Price. This is GM we're talking about, and this is the new "base" vette. They will make a bazillion of these. Will there be "dealer" mark ups to be the first on the block? You better believe it. But will supply catch demand. For sure. If you can wait until the initial feeding frenzy is over, you'll get one at sticker, possibly even lower. GM products for the most part hold horrible value. Just be patient and you'll score a deal.

I agree with this. I think the only two issues that may kill the car would be GM's "Plan B" will make modding the car extremely hard and also working on a midengine car SUCKS! People wanting to mod this car may be in for a let down. People with the new GT500 swapping over to a kenne bell or Whipple will be pushing 1000rwhp while the new vette will be patiently waiting to hit 500rwhp.
