Between Niavely Confident and Discouragingly Realistic.

Finding out daily how little I really know about things. College for STEM in your mid 30's will do that.

I went back to finish my bachelors in meteorology in my late twenties and am halfway through my masters now.

I'd like to think I'm at the lowest point of Discouragingly Realistic making the up turn but I'm still accelerating (and not because of change of direction)

There is no mastery, there is only continual learning and refinement of understanding.

If you think you are a master, you are arrogant.

I achieved the rank of Master Chief, so arrogance went along with the mastery of my field.

Chart is whack. There's no such thing as knowing everything you don't know. Therefore, you can never achieve "discouragingly realistic" much less mastery.

Just enjoy learning new things. Then, where you are doesn't matter.

I believe correct response here is “Master Chief, I don’t believe you are arrogant, you just have just have absolute confidence in your correctness.”

Pretty sure I don't know squat.
But what little I do know has gotten me this far, & there are far more " WELL EDUCATED " people, that know less than I do !!

I've thought about this before.

It's ironic but I find this chart relevant to many things, especially politics.

99% of the elected officials are naively confident. Any person that is master level, and understands everything, is smart enough to know not to take elected office. So we end up with idiots running our country, intelligent people taking advantage of their poorly planned systems and profiting, and the lay people spinning in circles.

It's the definition of Idiocracy.

I know that I don't know.............

When I was 28 I thought I knew it all. Now that I'm 68, I realize I basically don't know a God Dang thing!
