2018 Tesla Model 3 AWD Stealth Performance 1/4 Mile Drag Racing

Mid engine, under $60k, under 3.0(calculated 2.96).

Again the c8 a nice car with good performance, but nothing revolutionary.
Why are we conparing to a car with no other performance capability?
The C8 is absolutely revolutionary, show me another 500hp mid engine car that msrps for 60k. Hell show me a 400hp mid engine car that msrps for less than 100k..

Fact is people will be buying Z51's for 65k... Thats unreal

Tesla 3 performance. 450 horsepower $46k
Tesla S performance 750 hp $90k.
Yes you’re right the $100k 2020 GT4 is overpriced.

Bottom line. If you want mid engine for $60k today there are many options.
If you want best bang for buck I still look to the c6z!
Thant or a used sl65. Haha

Yeah, there is no denying this car is revolutionary and class leading. Just because a random electric car can do a faster 0-60 means nothing. Jaguar stated they had the I-Pace pulling sub 2 second zero to sixty in one that they were messing with, and that is awesome, but that car has no other extraordinary performance characteristics. Offering a complete performance package with a mid engine layout for $60k is simply unreal, and it isn't even the Corvette's true performance model.

Sorry man

Given the price/performance/content ratios, it’s revolutionary. This car is most definitely NOT an evolution of the C7.
I agree with that, it is totally new and not like any vette in the past.
The c8 gs will compete with the c7z most likely na as well.

Neither the mid engine nor the dct(gt500) is something we have not seen before. Hell even the Ford GT electronic spoiler was not revolutionary. McLaren has that title:)

The real praise will be the c8z. But what do I know, I still love the 993! Haha

Agreed

I think buried in all this hoopla is GM’s soft signal on their plans for the Camaro (i.e. it’s dead). The C8’s starting MSRP almost instantly makes any special edition model Camaro completely obsolete.

My Bet is that the ZR1 Engine will land in the Camaro before it will Deleted from any and all GM order sheets... They put the 427 in the 2014! And No way in hell will this new base model Corvette run a 10.3 LOL!!!!! The New Shelby will Smoke it in the 1/4 mile, Maybe on the track too.... But I hate the ADM of the Shelby!

Why buy a Camaro like a 1lE Package for what around 45k when you can own this New Vette for 60k What would you Buy?

Why? Because an SS 1LE is a more capable track car than the vast majority of us weekend warriors can fully use, $15k buys a lot of track time, and it hurts (your feelings) less when you crash it.

That math probably doesn't mean much to most buyers, though, as neither is likely to see a track.

Selling ~5K 1LE’s a year (probably far less) will not keep the Camaro afloat. Either will the V6 and 4 banger models. They need to sell the high margin special editions/HIPO models to justify future investment. The C8 just made all those irrelevant.

We had two 2020 GT500s at our show today. They are pretty gorgeous. I hate the ADM crap but it is what it is. I also hate the DCT-only option but I’m a caveman who likes to shift. From the pics I have seen of the C8 I don’t like any of it and wonder if it will be a nightmare to work on a mid engine Vette. I also don’t like the look of any base Vette - but I think the C5 and C6 Z’s and GS models are sexy.

Are there mid engine cars? Are there DCT's? Are there cars with most or all of the tech in some form or another that the C8 has? Sure. But putting it all together in an American made and branded car and at this price point is something we've never seen before. I think it's something to be excited about regardless of brand preferences.
