charge Temps keep going high over 140 and car runs like crap then

It was running fine after I put in a new afco dual pass heat exchanger, new extra capicity tank, new intercooler pump on an 03 Cobra with a Kenne Bell 2.8 liguid cooled supercharger.
Then last week the charge temp started going up till it ran so bad I had to pull over to let it cool for 30 minutes. I started it back up and it was still at 140 but I limped it home.
Any Ideas. The fluid is pumping I have a clear hose and can see it moving.

What's your voltage doing when this happens? Is it hitting the temp while moving or when you're stuck in traffic?

I had an issue where my IAT2 would go way up if I was stuck in traffic in 100+° heat with the A/C on. Once it hit about 140 the car would start acting really weird. My FPDC would show 100% at idle and my voltage would be in the low 12's. I swapped to another alternator and it seems to have gone away. I've seen 140 IAT2 temps and the car hasn't act up, but I haven't been stuck in traffic like that for a long time. I think it was like 20 miles of stop and go. Once I got moving I could watch the temps drop and the car acted normal. I think my coolant temps were around 220° as well when I finally turned the A/C off.

Define run bad? Limp home.

I ask because I was just having a issue when going into boost that put me in limp mode I guess.

Mine would stay running but you couldn’t accelerate

I found when it did that. If I shut car off and restart. It would run fine until I go into about 3/4 of boost

I ran my car without pump for over a year. Seen over 200 and it never went into limp mode.

For me. It spit po190.

I only replaced fuel filter and it’s been fine

I recall reading timing gets pulled after 150.

I see these temps.

I normally see 40deg above outside temp when pushing it.

I had just put on a brand new 170 amp alternator a few weeks before. I am not sure what the voltages was. But the temp is going up in 80 degree weather going freeway speed. So it seems that the air flow isnt even helping it. And my coolant temp was about 215 degrees. I did have a Killer Chiller on it that I just installed and the air conditioning seem to stop working so I switched it off today and just tried using the heat exchanger and that didnt seem to help.

If it's going up while moving I'd say something is up with the pump or you have an air pocket. I'd lean more towards the air pocket in this case.

Some guys have had luck with blowing into the tank. It moves water around if there is a pocket. All I've done in the past is jumper the pump to run constantly and fill the tank as I pumped the air out. Just because it's moving doesn't mean it's moving enough volume.

the pump is working and the fluid is moving I have a switch so I can turn the pump on from the engine bay with the motor off. So I dont think there is an air pocket. its got to be something else.

Ok is the running like crap when you get into it? If so it’s the timing being pulled.

If it’s running like ass even under part throttle that’s something else.

Maybe something to do with the KC install or was everything good to go, no mechanical changes, and now it’s acting up?

My charge temps were 140 today after cruising around 20 mins.
90-95 deg outside
After a pull or two will spike 150 settle back 130
I figured just sucks for summer? I am afco and a little expansion tank

This is pretty close to what I see, 2.3 whipple 22psi. Most E85 tunes won't pull one ioda of timing until 175-200 IAT2......far past the highest IAT2 I've ever recorded in this nasty hot n humid Houston air.

Now pump gas tunes? They will pull fractional amounts of timing starting as low as 100 IAT2! By 130 it's pulled much more and by 150 the game is over, massive amounts of timing pulled.

That's the real beauty of ethanol.....much cooler cylinder temps. So much so, the IAT2 reading is not near as critical.

Have you scanned for any codes?

When mine did it’s stuff. I never got light on dash.

I tried to datalog it while it was doing it.

This is when po190 spit.

The other thing you said.
Your engine coolant temps were 215.

To me. That’s banging on overheating

I had those temps for years. I had went to 3 core and now back at 180 area

This could be some of why it’s high

Radiator has to be hotter

I have tried every thing to get this car to run cooler I am on my 2nd 3rd Row new radiator, New high output Waterpump I have tried 4 different thermostats, New Hoses, Canton Resivour, I have 2 12 inch electric fans pushing into the condenser, I installed a Killer chiller to help the intercooler and the Supercharger cooled down, I have tried every kind of water wetter stuff, I have the car check or head gasket leak 3 times The motor only has 14,000 miles on it . No one can figure out why it runs hot and now the Intercooler is starting to get hot too.
