I'm taking the Z06 C8 over the GT500 and I dont give a rat's ass if they build 1 billion of them. So the C8 depreciates if I sell it, who cares. My '17 GT350R lost 10K already. I may lose 30K in 2 years with the Z06 but at least I wont need to pay 20K over to get it, and have a performance advantage. I'll take it!!

Yeah I mean if you want all out performance the Mustang isn't the right car to be looking at anyhow. It is a compromise vehicle, which is why I keep reiterating that it and the Corvette are not in the same class. The Vett does not compromise performance. The C8 Z will be a better performer and you will pay that premium. No arguments there.

Exactly!

Angh... I don't know about that. I have a feeling the C8 will hold its value far better than its predecessors.

You have to recognize that, even though the banner says "SVT Performance", this site has a very large number of non-Ford and Ford-ambivalent members.

To be fair, that's probably because Ford only produces about 1 GT350 for every 10 Corvettes Chevy produces. And, unless you're into Corvettes or, to a lesser degree, car culture, most people can't tell a base 'vette going down the road from the more tarted up versions. Even non car people can tell a Shelby from the rest of the herd. I get people coming up to me all the time asking all kinds of wrong questions about my Shelbys, but they at least recognize that its not a run-of-the-mill Mustang.
Yea I know, thats my point. Chevy builds enough cars to meet that demand. If there was as few corvettes as there was shelbys the ADMs would be crazy as well. The other guy was saying because theres a demand... Well sure, there is a higher demand for a car that there are less of. As a consumer, id rather be able to buy the car I want without all these retarded loopholes and ADMs. I dont give two shits about who notices me in my rare car. I want cars that perform for the money. Ive owned a rare look at me car and frankly nobody cares. Im having 10x more fun racing "junk" on the race track anyway. There hasnt been a street car that made me even consider getting back into that scene until now.

Point taken, Ford stepped up though by bringing the next gen to fruition, but fumbled market availability. They had the touchdown but took a knee.

it was never ment to score.

No, the mustang isnt the all out performer, it's too much to ask from Ford anymore. What can you get from Ford that is an all out performer? Nothing, because they sold that to 1,000 of their buddies or social media stars.
The fact is Ford doesnt offer something like this C8, so there we have it, if they did and they allocated the cars more fair so one could pick one up for MSRP, then we would have a competition. Right now there isnt one and it seems Ford is going to lose sales. Sure they will sell all they make of this GT500, but the fact is I'm not buying one and I was a buyer. That frees up another allocation. it loosens the demand some. Really what hurts Ford is that if I like this Corvette, I'll end up buying more GM products. in 2017 I bought 230K in fords, in a couple years ill do the same and it will probably be 250K in cars. Bottom line, its not good for Ford... especially when several people like me choose to do the same thing.
I wish Ford luck!

They should have stopped with the exclusivity bullshit and produced as many FGT's as they could take orders for. The more you build the lower the cost goes right?

FGT is a special car but when your car is as dominant, get it into as many hands as you can.

Still waiting for a TT Coyote swapped example BTW

And I am fairly sure that if I pulled into the garage in this, my wife would definitely consider maybe putting out to me.

This has to be one of the better posts in this entertaining thread. "Fairly sure...Definitely consider maybe putting out" That's confidence. hahaha Thank you

A Shelby is absolutely more desirable than a base model Corvette. Chevrolet makes almost more Vetts than they can sell, which means there's base models all over the place, and nobody looks twice after a year or two. People STILL stare at a 2007 GT500 going by. Nobody looks at a ****ing 2007 base C6 when it goes by. Also, by Chevrolet making so many base models they can keep the prices lower through economies of scale, just another reason the base C8 seems "cheap". We all know how they have an abundance of Vetts sitting on lots, and thus get discounted heavily just to move them a few years into production (of a new generation). Ford actually has the wherewithal to do some level of forecasting, so their dealers don't have to discount the shit out of their products.

Lets not leave out depreciation... a new 2008 C6Z06 was $70k. They now sell for ~$34k with low mileage. A 2008 GT500 msrp'd for $47k, and they now sell for $30k low mileage. I'll let you do the math on that, but it isn't looking good for the Vett, and that's the Z we're talking about.

Again, you see more base Vetts compared to GT350s because of how many Chevrolet pumps out, vs how little GT350s are made. GT350s aren't sitting around on lots being heavily discounted, Vetts are. So who's really winning here? Desire is maintained with the Shelbys BECAUSE less are seen.

I get 2x as many compliments on my C7Z as I ever got on my GT500 (which also had a much flashier paint job).

Ford made 4378 GT350/GT350R in 2018.
Chevy made 5883 Grand Sport / Z06 in 2018

I think Dodge already proved they can produce something completely comparable to the Mustang, and build it at a much higher quality. The Vette is just going to push that over the edge while Ford still puts plastic cheap looking shit all over the interior of their cars.

You're saying a dodge quality is better than Ford? lol. What's comparable, the challenger? Those cars are huge and sloppy.

Look at a new mustang interior compared to even 10 years ago, it is astonishing how nice it is. Ford Sync 3 is also the best interface on the market.

Ala Hellcat.

2015 people paid stupid ADM because FCA under estimated demand for a $70k Challenger. 2016 manuals sat as they over built and gave out some killer lease deals.

With two years under their belt they leveled out production numbers. You won't pay a mark IP, but you won't see $10k off the hood either.

Ford knows exactly the demand point of Shelby Mustangs, Raptors and Ford GTs. They short build to keep up the hype and reward dealers.

Sorry but the 12" screen in my 2019 Ram is worlds better than anything in an F150 today.

I said interface meaning the system and the huge screen is preference, I don't like it. Ford doesn't have to worry about truck completion anytime soon anyways.

Damn right it is, my FIL just bought a ‘19 Ram and it shits all over the new F150 I just got at work. Interior, power, the whole truck just rides better especially towing. Ford has become lax if people are able to be honest with themselves. If it wasn’t for Fleet sales propping up their sales numbers, I highly doubt they would continue to outsell the competition.

Because 95% of the "performance" everyone is mentioning is really just about how it's going to roll out on the highway or form a low roll. Literally 1% or less of buyers are going to have either of these cars on an actual road course. They are going to be racing around on the street. Power to weight is what matters there. Sure the under 3 second 0-60 is impressive, if you just want to launch the car constantly and then fizzle out. 0-60 is an "indicator" of power to weight, but the largest reason for a good 0-60 is traction (assuming reasonable hp). Plenty of Teslas out there that would out 0-60 a C7 Z but would get slaughtered out on the highway, or even at the 1/4 mile on the top end.

I would say 20-150 is a better "indicator" of real world performance, and there will be NO COMPETITION between the new GT500 and this base C8 at that metric. Even then, the GT500 will also be much faster around a track than the base C8. Max grip levels may or may not go towards the base C8, but the power difference is huge, and the GT500 will have more downforce. So there's my argument beyond "power to weight".

I’d sure as hell hope the top tier track focused mustang offering could take on a base C6.

I think the GS and C8Z will be a much different animal for the GT500. Which isn’t a big deal since they are both different set ups anyway.

Let’s be clear, the people buying a GT500 likely won’t be phased because they have the spare cash to buy either, drive to cars and coffee a bit then trade for the next hot ticket car anyway.

Both will be stellar performers but the C8 will likely be more attainable as it’ll be mass produced and will be more reasonably priced sooner then the GT500.

We will have to agree to disagree. The interface in my Ram outperforms the interface of the Sync3 in any Ford I've ever been in.

Eh I wouldn’t be so sure of that, the Ram is really picking up a lot of people that were other wise shopping the likes of ford, Toyota and Chevy.

16k miles into my ram and I haven’t missed my previous tundras, or f150s. That said I’d gladly cross shop both again when I need another truck. Being a brand loyalist these days is just missing out on other great vehicles.

Even if they designed an aluminum body GT...or ??... just a true sports car for people that want to order one.
Ford: "Nope, go to Ferrari, McLaren, Audi, or Lamborghini, we don't want your business".
Chevy: "ok, we'll take that American sports car business." "Every single bit of it". "THANK YOU FORD!!"
