Holy shit. I called my pickup in stolen and the cops I talked to said right off the bat there were at least 6 chop shops in the vicinity. They had actually shot a guy who walked up on them stealing his truck. Just mind blowing for a small town hick like me. The aluminum Fords they bend the door and pry it open. On the GM twins they have a “mimicker” that mimics the frequency of the remote door locks.

If I was Corbic. I would pass on the car and get one that was unmolested.

There is a new tactic that some car thieves are starting to impliment at least in the last 8 years. Where they buy a blank key or fob. And then go out and test drive the vehicle and when they come back swap it out for the real one and come back after closing and take off with said vehicle. This was a real big problem for the C7 Vettes as about 250 have been jacked this way since 2016.

Op, you getting a c7z? If it’s the stock wheels maybe you lucked out. The wheels on the z06 are known to crack, so better that youre getting new.

If there is damage then the dealer should find another like it. But it not then just because the car started out with bad juju doesn’t mean it’s any less new than if it didn’t happen.
Sure if there is nothing wrong with it. Maybe they can put it on a lift for you so you can look at the undercarriage - if they'll agree to that. Maybe even take a couple of high resolution photos and inspect them at home afterwards.

These thieves didn't even use blocks!

thats not a new tactic at all. Back in 2002-2003 there was several hundred brand new 03-04 cobras that were stolen this way from countless dealerships as well. One guy got caught when a detective recognized that his name as being the last test driver of over 50 vehicles that were stolen. The nerve of some people. And worst off they did not have any evidence to get a conviction for him.

A few years back my neighbors wheels were stolen. Caught all of it on the home security cameras. One guy came up to the car and took all the lug nuts off then left. A couple hours later he returned with a pickup truck and more guys. They simply walked up to the car lifted it and took off each wheel one at a time. Took all of 13 seconds from the time the truck pulled up til when it drove off.

The shop that I used to go to in CT had a problem with thieves. Some of us would hang out late, especially before race day (too excited I guess?). One night, some moron hopped the fence and started raiding cars in the lot. A few of the guys chased him down and held him at gunpoint until the police arrived. A few weeks later, they started having more thieves break in. They started using a forklift to load cars up on top of shipping containers at night. They also did it when they suspected that someone wanted a "Free Repair." They'd call to let someone know their vehicle was repaired, the person would request to hold the car overnight. They'd show up at 2am with bolt cutters and the spare key, get in their car and drive off. My '00 GT was actually nabbed one night but was recovered very quickly down the street since the thieves didn't know how to drive it and didn't know where the fuel pump switch was. They must have started it, drove out to the hill, coasted, and by then the fuel lines were dry.

This is the car equivalent of being struck by lightning.

You'd be dumb to just sign off/ignore it. Damage or not, you need to take a discount on the car otherwise move along.

wheel locks provide the same amount of protection as any other lock: they only work on honest people. The thieves can zip wheels off in seconds, all they need is a tool like this:

A Dodge dealer by me had a hellcat sitting right out front of their showroom door in a semi busy area and someone jacked the wheels of it and just slammed it on the ground when they were done. The car sat for a while with terrible looking aftermarket rims on it. Someone got a killer deal on that car.

Found my car just like this one morning leaving for work back in ~2015. I literally stood there for at least 2 minutes making sure I wasn't dreaming. It took the insurance company 2 days to find a tow company willing to come pick it up and take it to the dealer.
