Makes sense to me. Modern 450’s (especially the 2019 crf450) respond so fast from completely off throttle, with no clutching needed, from almost a dead stop

I found the 450 to be waaaaay smoother on throttle than my YZ250 2T but off throttle engine braking is a bit harsh. Best recipe Ive felt was the 450 with recluse as it gets rid of engine braking and just learn to use rear brake like on a 2T. Either way Ive owned 250f-450f and 125-2502T and the 250 2T by far has the most aggressive throttle.

I agree with all that. I’m imagine a woods guy trying to slowly work around precarious tree roots or rocks or something from a near stop.

On the moto track when you already have some kind of roll speed and momentum the 450 is far smoother for sure. That engine braking is the devil though, especially on sandy or deeply tilled tracks.

Im a woods guy suffering on a MX 250 2 stroke lol... My riding buddies all have 4 strokes and 300's set up for woods and they just laugh at my pain. I chalk it up to getting a good work out
