For me, I do not like how Ford has transformed the gt500 into a fast and furious car complete with erector set wing.

The CFTP wing is functional and creates a ton of downforce. The aero and carbon fiber wheels are what makes this car supposedly so good on the track. You can always go with the base model which has a smaller spoiler.

It sounds like whatever Ford did with this car you would not be happy with.

Even if he isnt happy, the fact that Ford (or any of the other brands) have been raising the bar means the consumer (US) wins. I do not want a stagnant 3v mustang from the 2005-2010 era.

I saw the new GT500 first hand at Laguna Seca, it was on display during the World Superbike race. The brakes are ****ing huge, it was next to the new bullitt mustang which also has 6-piston calipers. the ones on the gt500 are larger calipers along with the giant rotors. The carbon wheels look nice AF. Fully optioned the car will be over 100k.

Over on mustang 6g apparently one of the Ford GT racing drivers says the GT500 is faster than the Ford GT and ZR1. Not sure at what measurement (1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, 0-60, top speed). I refuse to believe that its faster on a road course, unless its an oval we are talking about.

That is correct. This car fell well short of my expectations.
I used to love Ford, but they have made some very poor decisions over strategy in the last few years. About the only good thing they have now is the super duty diesel truck. I am glad I will never have to buy another vehicle ever again.

I think it is one of the coolest events just by the sheer number of cars there and the rarity of many of them along with the fact that you get to see them ran hard usually.

Agreed. Goodwood is incredible for the cars it attracts, but it’s basically a show for those with Treynor levels of income. Fun to watch but I wouldn’t ever take it seriously.

And what were your expectations

You mean functional aero parts. Yes I agree it’s not the most ascetically pleasing part and I prefer the rear spoiler of the gt350r if a larger one is needed BUT this does serve a purpose for the capabilities of the car.

You can also get the base model with out it, or buy the carbon package and take the spoiler off of the plan is just street use anyway.

Very curious your expectations then.

Just so we’re clear it doesn’t have to be for everyone and that’s ok. If I had to take a guess you want more a power house street heavy hitter, if so hellcat redeye. Again so many options, no sense being brand loyalist these days, just missing out on other stellar products then.

My only disappointment was the lack of a manual option. Based on the speed of the shifts I might be warming to the DCT though.

And of course I'd like the whole package less expensive. Especially the options.
