More power on a 2013 V6 Mustang 3.7...

My son loves his 2013 V6 mustang. He has been making payments on it for about 6 months and now wishes to increase power. I told him he needs to make a few more years of payments before he would be able to get rid of it. So he then asked what he could do to get more power. Haha.

Couple questions...

1. Is there any decent turbo/blower kits for the 3.7?

2. Does it make more sense to coyote swap it? He has the auto, will that bolt right in?

Just curious what his most cost effective option is and I know you guys are the experts!

Thanks in advance!

Not worth coyote swapping, I don't even think its worth doing boost unless you found a used kit. Throw a tune on it at least.

The best mod for those is to sell it and buy a 5.0L. Seriously, don’t throw any money at that car. Sell it while it still has some value and upgrade to the 5.0L

His son is like 17 or something, I don't see that happening next week

He turned 18 a few months back...he's active duty USMC and is saving his money as best he can to do some nice upgrades on his v6.

They have longtubes and exhaust for the cars. Sound pretty decent for a V6.

I'd tell him to just start with the basic bolt on's and a tune from a reputable tuner (not god damn BAMA)

he's the one that has that clean MCA edition car right? Is that a stick or auto?

Friend of mine has a 3.7 s197, he did longtubes, ported intake manifold and a 93 oct tune.

Car runs 13.0 to 13.1 like clockwork.

Spanks ALOT of cars on the regular.
Sounds like a lambo

He already has more power than an older Cobra had with a better suspension and chassis. Take him to an autocross or two and then step it up to a track day. He will appreciate the car that much more knowing its fully capable in stock form. Budget for a fluids change(brake fluid is extremely important) and a helmet. Go with him and have a great father son day.

Procharger makes a supercharger kit for the car. As others have mentioned though, not worth the $5-6k cost brand new. Find a used one for half or less and do the install in your garage and it would be worth it though.

a used 2011-2012 coyote GT is going to be way cheaper than the V6 + mods. Anything he adds to the car is effectively putting $100 bills in the trashcan and burning them.

I will echo the above- procharger (and I believe Vortec) both make good kits. Pricey new, but watch for used ones to pop up for about half of new. But unlike the older 3.8 and 4.0, for now a tune and exhaust will actually make a difference.

mustang gt will have higher insurance and require more gas filling.

OP, tell your son to suck it up. I'm sure you didnt complain to your parents that your car didnt have enough power.. or did you??? LOL
