Congrats on the purchase and good looking car.

Thanks!

I'll post some current pictures when we get the 3 step buffing done. Should bring the paint back pretty nice.

I thought Red Line was the brand of fluid to use in the T5?

I ran Redline in my T-5's years ago when I road raced. But I haven't run a T-5 in any of my track cars for over 10 years. just wondered if something better had come along.

This brings back some wonderful memories...My Dad bought me a new 88GT back in high school. The start of many Mustangs!

Making some progress with the car.

Had our body shop manager buff the car. Did a 3 step process plus a wax top coat. Car looks fantastic now.

Also a few shots of the under carriage. No rust on this car anywhere. Have the trans out to replace the clutch that was slipping. I'll also be replacing the flywheel which is smoked. Looks like one of our brake rotors after an 8 hour race at Road America. Also doing throw out bearing, pilot bearing, rear main, output shaft seal and new 02 sensors in the BBk off road H-pipe. Then the Flowmaster AT cat back.

Looks clean. I still don’t get why maximum motorsports says the torque boxes are not the spot to be lifting the car up on and can cause damage.

I don’t follow how it could, assuming the jack pad is rubber.

Car is coming together nicely.

Can't wait to get the clutch done and hear the new exhaust!

Hard to believe the one muffler and tail pipe was still the original one and not rusted out.

Never new that. I've lifted from the tq boxes for YEARS! Never had an issue. Also back before I had the convenience of a lift I've used tq boxes for the jack stands. Never had an issue or damaged them. Thats even through years of road racing

I just swapped the exhaust out on the car. I'm debating on saving the stock pipe (other one had been replaced), selling it or throwing it out. Anyone know if there is any demand for an original exhaust from these cars? I did cut the pipe so I didn't have to take the suspension apart to get it out. Could be easily welded back together.

Thanks!

It's actually surprising to me how many nice ones are around. There are a lot that have been slowly modified over the years and are now pretty bad ass well kept cars and there are quite a few that people have bought in rough shape and brought them back. Not to mention the bone stock survivors that are still out there.

I just swapped out the bad ignition switch, repaired and replaced the ash tray lid door, new ash tray and new drivers door armrest pad. Since I had the complete console out I did a thorough cleaning of the console and carpet.

A/C compressor clutch started eating itself saturday night so I decided to do a new compressor with clutch.

I plan on doing the new cup holder console for mine and I’ll prob redo the headliner and new carpet soon. Then the stereo amp and new head unit.

I considered doing that before I repaired and replaced the stock ash tray lid setup. Since the car was so original I wanted to keep it that way. But now every time I have a drink in there I wish I would have gone with the cup holder setup.

That’s the number one thing I hate about my fox. But normally just take bottled water. My headliner needs replaced but I’ll probably have a professional do it.

When I drive this car it makes me realize how much what seems like simple stuff I take for granted in the newer vehicles. Cup holders, steering wheel controls for everything, express windows, storage compartment and so on.

Funny story from back in the early 90's. I drove new Mustangs for demos. My wife and I had been at the local drive in restaurant. Kind of like a Sonic. When we were done and leaving my wife still had a soda. Not having anywhere to put it she had it sitting on the dash on the little ledge above the glove box. The drive in is on a heavily traveled 4 lane road. As we went to leave there was a small opening in traffic right as I pulled to the exit. Not seeing her soda on the dash I hit the gas to go. The soda ended up in her lap, all over her and the car. Needless to say she was not happy.

Yes I know what you mean. The fox is prob the closest I’ll ever come to owning another muscle car. I miss a lot of newer stuff but at the same time I like it. But yes I deff need cupholders. And I’m not a smoker so the ashtray never mattered to me lol. I have a few things to do on mine. I can’t wait to get some stuff do so I can get back to driving it.

If you just need it recovered it’s actually pretty easy. I just watched a video on how to do it lastnight.
