How are you planning on doing the bottom end? It's something I need to start planning for but I'm torn between building my current block or buying a short block like l&ms aluminator clone or similar or even buying an f150 block from junkyard and building that. I'm not made of money, would like to get the best possible outcome on a budget. Some guys dont mind throwing down 10k for a built engine, that ain't me
I plan on doing a 15 short block with arp headstuds and I'll add a set of l&m intake cams. I've been researching the gen 3 coyote blocks but not a lot of info on them at the moment. I've heard they work with gen 1 heads but one of the coolant passages doesn't line up perfectly, just a rumor at this point... Waiting for someone to put some good info out on this.

Either way a stock gen 2 block will hold 800 plus and the gen 3 blocks have been pushed to over 1k. I'd like to be in the 750 range and stop there, after that trans and rear end will both need to be upgraded.

If your on a budget the stock 15 and up short blocks are the best deal around.

You cant get a gen 2 any longer.. only new old stock likely available any longer.

A Gen 3 shortblock is about $2000.

Where are you getting the gen2 short block from? I haven't been able to find any.

I just learned about the gen 2 short blocks not being available anymore. There is always used ones for sale and then there is the Gen 3 option as well. They go for $2K but after core charge they are 2500, still a good deal.

The car is beautiful. Mine is Race Red, and I am digging the color on yours and wishing it was mine. lol.

Thanks my 04 Cobra was Redfire which is very similar. I wanted a white one but when these are in the sun the metallic pops like crazy and I love it.

Last night I drained the fuel, I had a tune that ran the pumps full time so after I hooked up the drain line all I had to was load a tune and turn the car on. I will say I was surprised once the car got to around 1/8 tank. The fuel flow was not steady anymore as the pump was getting quite a bit of air mixed in with the fuel. With that said I highly recommend dont get on your car when its 1/4 or under as it might starve for fuel.

I put in 5 gallons of E85 and the car fired right up. Drove it to the station and topped off the tank, everything appears to be running really smooth. Going to run a couple of tanks and then start datalogging. Here is a pic I promised of the my fuel drain line. The stock feed line connects to any 05-12 Mustang fuel filter and then you simply connect a hose and run it to a fuel container.

Did some WOT logs last night and everything on the tune looks good. We are going off of E85 stoich but we readily get E70-E75 in my local area. The car is running about 10% richer than commanded but tuner says its safe. When I go to track ill more than likely buy some VP X85 to put in the tank to lean it back out a touch, or find some higher ethanol fuel locally.

Overall car pulls harder through the entire RPM band. No signs of car leaning out on the stock fuel pump, we are revving the car to 7700. Once the summer heat wave passes ill get out to the track but its hot and muggy now. I waited until 730 last night to do my logs and it was still close to 90 degrees.

I took the car back out today and its a blast to drive. I tried a 45 roll in second and it chirped the drag radials and just took off, the additional timing definitely increased torque. Timing varies from roughly 20 degrees all the way up to 24.5 at redline. On my 93 tune timing peaked at 17 degrees for reference

Lets see how long the stock longblock and stock fuel pump will hang in there. A local shop just installed a dyno so I may do a test showing E70 vs E85 on my current tune and then do a pull with ice in the tank to see what it picks up. More to come.

I definitely will, just not sure when I'll be back that way. Our local track is open again and I'm just waiting for it to cool off some. Might come out to Baytown if they do another coyote shoot or street car takeover event

Yes, the car has TSS OPG and CS.

I was able to get out to the track and make a few hits today. Weather was pretty good, it was in the low 60s and DA was roughly 400-500ft. I ran the car last February and the car went 10.53@133 on pump gas. Since then I added a set of Forgestar 18" front runners, converted to E85, BMR radiator support, Borla Over Axle pipes.

The car ran strong all day but I am having a hard time getting the car to leave now. It spun on the hit every pass I made, the prep was descent because there were several other coyote cars out there cutting 1.4 60s, I think I need to make some suspension adjustments. I did have my front sway bar still on, maybe removing that will get the car to hook?

Ignore the MPH on the first slip below, the timing was off on the left lane all day. On the first hit the car went 10.22 with a 1.68 60 spinning. The second pass was actually my third pass because I "might have" left the car in Sport Mode and realized it when the car didnt shift to second. 60 was garbage anyways, spun and it went like 1.78 to the 60. I came back around, dropped air pressure down to 17 and went right back to get in line. Car went 10.33@139 with a 1.77 60, the car was spinning a lot this pass and I had to drive it a little to keep it in the groove. Last pass car was completely cooled off, some local guys had some special burnout sauce that I tried but I didnt do my burnout through the staging lights (rookie move). Car went 10.24@140 with a 1.72 60, spun a little but not as bad as previous pass.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get it to hook? Will removing my front sway bar help at all? Car has steeda ultralite springs, KYB STRT shocks, whiteline rear sway, BMR panhard, BMR upper an lower control arms, MT ET Street Pros at 17 psi. I know my suspension set up isn't the best for drag but at my power level I thought it would be fine.

Overall im pleased with the car, im confident the car can run a 10.10-10.15 as it sits if i can get it to hook. Very happy with the 140 mph trap speed on the 82mm pulley. Moving forward im going to remove the front sway bar and im considering swapping in some BMR drag springs, any feedback on the BMR springs? Over the winter the car will receive a K member and a return fuel system. Going to keep pushing the Gen 1 block and see if I can get it into the 9s, car still remains full weight....... Premium Brembo car.

Awesome runs man! I ran on Friday in baytown too with similar DA but yours is a good bit quicker still. Are those shocks adjustable? I have been playing a lot with mine but the centri launches arent as hard as the PD launches. That 140 MPH is screamin for stock bottom end, I knew you couldnt resist the corn juice for long. If you get your launches sorted out you may be able to get a 9.99 but would take a good 1.55 or so 60' to do it.

Are there many of us Gen1 guys going 140 MPH with just OPG/CS? I am ordering mine today (seriously) so I can turn it up a notch.

Unfortunately the shocks are not adjustable, when I originally bought the car the shocks and springs were the first thing I did. I never planned on going this fast with the car.

There are quite a few that have been in the lower 140s. I dont plan on running anymore boost though, currently at 9 psi or so and 24.5 degrees of peak timing.

OPGs are a must IMO, I followed the MMR how to write up on here and it was very helpful. I did my blower at the same time, my only advice would be to plan a weekend and take your time. I did mine and I helped my friend do his last year. Not sure if you still have my number but if you do call me if you run into a snag. There was a paxton car out there today with a 3.33 pulley with a built motor going 9.40s, made me think of your car.

So the mods continue, after my last track outing I learned I need to work on suspension a little and get the car to 60 ft better. I ended up putting on BMR GT500 Drag Springs, BMR K member with Steeda A arms, and a Tig Vision front bumper support. When I have my track set up on and sway bar removed I will have about 50 pounds off the nose of the car which should definitely help weight transfer.

I didn't officially weigh anything but from what I read the K member saves about 23 pounds, sway bar saves 15 pounds, and the front bumper support is good for about a 10 pound reduction. The installs are pretty straight forward but the K member and A arms have been a nightmare. Steeda sent me A arms for a 05-10 GT which use 18mm ball joints. The 11-14 cars use 19mm ball joints. It all bolted up but luckily we noticed there was a tiny bit of slop in the ball joint. I made the mistake of moving the car off my buddies lift and the joint popped off which caused the tire to break the bumper off the car. Took us hours to get the car back to the lift, lol.

Im still waiting on my new A arms to arrive, they should be here tomorrow and we can hopefully assemble it one last time. Right now we have the entire front suspension and steering off the car but it should only be about 2 hours of work getting it all back together. Here are a couple of pics of the bumper support and K member. I did not take any pics of the carnage when the ball joint popped off, I was just focused on getting the car back together.

Once the car is back together ill take a pic, car sits a tad lower with the drag springs but looks perfect. Cant wait to drive it, there is definitely a little NVH from the K member. On start up I could definitely feel the engine running but its not terrible. On to the pics:

I was told by my tuner to never run a mustang on less than half a tank of gas. The tank is a saddle style and it doesn't work well below that level.
Sway bar removed should show better 60s.
Relocation brackets would alow you to adjust the lower control arms should you want to go that far.
Adjustable shocks and struts would help too.

Awesome man, looking forward to this season racing. What you shooting for on the 60'?

My wastegate, small pulley, harmonic balancer, offroad h pipe, and opgs/cs are all in and datalogging now. I suspect either stall or suspension is what i will need to keep up with ya but we will see! When you comin to baytown next?
I am interested to see how it 60's now!!

Well, last trip out I kept spinning off the line so I'm not to sure what to expect on the 60. Anything in the mid to high 1.5s will be great. I'll come back to Baytown next time they have a Streetcar Takeover or Coyote shootout.

I was just about to reach out to you to see how your car is coming along. Great to hear its back up and running, are'nt you still running stock cats. If so you need to ditch those before they clog up and you burn up an engine. I have seen 2-3 cars that were boosted melt a cat and it destroyed their engines. Not saying catless is your only option but just watch those cats!

We actually finished up my car Wednesday night and I have it back home now. It needs an alignment bad but I expected that since I had the entire suspension an steering rack off the car. Ill try to leave work early one day this week an knock it out.

TTUhouston sent me over here to take a look at your build and it doesn't disappoint. I appreciate you documenting the changes and the times you ran. I'm sub'd to see the 9.x pass!

I plan to get back out to the track in early February if everything works out right. I'm not quite sure if it has a 9.99 in it but I do think it will be damn close.
