Guys,

Curious on everyone’s feedback on a situation I have. I have some Nitto NT05R’s on my Mach 1 currently. 315/35/17. They have had approximately 1500 miles on them and have good tread left. I found a local guy wanting to trade his Mickey Thomson ET Street R radials with approximately 500 miles on them. They are the same size. He’s willing to trade them straight up. My Mach is procharged and the nittos hook decent but 1st gear I get a lot of spin. I’m sure the mickeys will hook a bit better but won’t last as long. I’ve seen pics of the mickeys, they look pretty good. Should I go ahead and swap them?

Thanks.

If your mach still has a clutch look at hoosier QTP for your next tire, or et street R bias plys.

The Mickey's will hook a little better. But are you auto or stick? If auto, then sure, if manual you may break more parts with more grip.

Also, look into parts to make your rear suspension's instant center more under the car. A set of lower control arm relo brackets may help get you more mechanical grip:

Anyone have real-world street experience with MT ET Street R's? I'm considering them for my next set of tires and was doing some reading on them and found out they are radials, but do not have steel belts. In all the pics you can see they look kind of round like a bias ply slick and not flat and squared off like a steel belted radial. It just makes me think they may not be great in the handling and street manners department.
