So, got the bad news today. Ford is not offering the 2020 GT500 to anyone serving overseas through the Military Auto Source program. Sucks. I bought my 2014 through that program when I was deployed then as well. Worked out so awesome for those serving abroad who want to enjoy what they bought when they arrive home. I have yet to ask for my deposit back on the order though as maybe i'm in denial. lol

Makes no sense since every other Ford vehicle is offered to military deployers (including Bullitt, GT350, Raptor, etc) except for the Ford GT (obvious reasons-approval for ownership, etc) through this program. According to the rep, Ford simply said they weren't budging on offering it to us.

If anyone has any other information on purchasing one via a program similar to this (order it how we want it, delivered to any dealer nation-wide, no ADM!), please let me know. It's nice seeing some perks from spending half our lives in the sand!

Thanks.

I got mine overseas as well. They may change that policy of selling 0 cars and have a lottery for the chance to buy one. Good luck and stay safe.

Well, I have till November if they do. But the last message I got from MAS today sounded pretty concrete. Evidently they spoke with Ford management yesterday...:/
This one was supposed to be a lottery as well. But, if no slots avail, no lottery of course...

Was the 13/14 not when it came out? Highest hp mass produced vehicle in the world at that time. GT350 was pretty special when it came out imo. Both were offered...

The 13/14 gt500 didn't have a break in making gt500.

Did you get the deal on a gt350R?

Yes, it was. It was a lottery to win the chance to purchase one. There were 12 GT500s available and 8 Boss Mustangs in 2013. Also, Vipers were sold too, and I priced a 2016, but couldn't pull the trigger.....

You would think that with a projected 5000 car production, Ford could afford to offer a couple to Military Sales.

This car is priced out of range for most in the military that would actually want it.

That may be true, but there are people in the military that can afford the car. This ain't 1974, there are some well paid NCO's, not to mention officers in 2019.

I watched a Hellcat and a C7 Z06 leave Fort Gordon yesterday. Both drivers in fatigues. Our military is not paid as well as I would like them to be, but they do OK.

FoMoCo. At least they've been consistent in how poorly this vehicle has been promoted and made available for sale.

Develop a great vehicle and then do some really stupid things marketing it. Why must this be so difficult?

Pay is mediocre depending on rank, but your average Joe can get a loan form pretty much anywhere since they know they'll get their money. Not uncommon for young enlisted guys to spend 70-80% of their paycheck on cars.

Yep. Was lottery though as well. I was told there were 31 slots up for grabs the year it came out. I put in for that one...didn't get drawn though.
There were 30 available for the '14 GT500. I wasn't drawn initially, then a sale fell through and I got the call.

Well, I'm not military anymore. But I have worked with the Army and Air Force as a civilian for the last 12 years. My unit deploys...I go with them, and stay the entire time they are deployed. I come home when they come home. So, the military auto sales offers the same purchase program to us as well.

Due to that, trust me when I say that civilians can more than afford what is out there. It's not just those in fatigues the program sells to.
