Obviously a lot of us have seen Vaughn Gittin J run the puke green GT500 up the hill at the FOS.

Basically what exactly is the Goodwood FOS??? I see it as a gathering of all different types of vehicles making that run up the hill but is it a competitive event or just a spectacle?? I found this:

The Hillclimb | Festival of Speed | Goodwood

Obviously, Vaughn was showboating the GT500 there with the big smoke show when he took off up the hill but if somehow it was competitive the smoke show did nothing to get a quick time up the hill at that event.

He was apparently using launch control when the car took off...…………...did it work cause I fail to see why the big smoke production if launch control was utilized.

Goodwood is 100% a spectacle/car show and 0% a judging factor on a vehicle. The all out record is fun to watch. Gt500 smoke show was done on purpose

I think the smoke show helps heat the tires. More flair his way than conventional burnout :)

On one of the video Vaughn Gittin Jr says something about Ford telling him to save the tires. I think that's about the same thing as a parent telling a child not to do something.

me too, any idea the cost of entry not including airfare/stay? I assume its an invite only thing like Pebble Beach

I would go as a spectator.

There are many different ticket packages available, but I noticed this year they were sold out many months in advance.

I think for a trip like this I would want to be gone for 9-10 days. Two days to adjust to the time difference, the FOS is 3/4 days, then spend a few days sightseeing in London, then come home.

I’m guessing air, hotel, rental car, FOS, food, drink, souvenirs, exchange rate, etc I’d be looking at $4000-$5000 just for myself.

If a friend or two went, then obviously hotel and rental car costs comes way down.

Check this video from the Goodwood event talking about a check engine light from the GT500.
