Thinking about selling

My Viper has two seats and I have a wife and baby. My wife was my cruising partner, as the cars are only weekend toys. Since we had the baby I realized that the Cobra is the only toy that fits all three of us. So... The Viper is for when we get time away from the baby, or just for me to break away. It isnt often but I do take it out alone now... even just to go grab something at the hardware store, or on an actual cruise through some scenic roads.
If you want to make it work, you will.
If you really want to be able to enjoy the car scene with your kids, then sure... get something that works for all of you. But in truth, kid's interests change with the weather. And ultimately, it doesn't matter what you are doing the kids will enjoy that. It isnt the car hobby, it is dad that they care about.
If it seems like you cant have fun without the kids, then the decision is obvious. If you can, then keep it as your escape and find something fun to do with the kids.

What about a Hellcat?

I think thats the only car (HC Charger) I would replace the Cobra with AND use as a daily. I go through almost the same arguement weekly with keep/sell the Cobra.

I think the girlfriend analogy explains it the best so far, Im almost certain I would regret the sale even if I did end up with a HC in the Cobras spot in the garage.

I have had quite a few mustangs, but none that command the attention that this car gets and that’s from someone who recently got out of a 2017 Shelby Gt350. That car was nice and all, but I don’t regret getting rid of it.

I am stopped all the time about this car. Pulled up next to someone yesterday in an Avalanche Grey gt350 and he immediately knew what it was. He said is that the Terminator?

This is one Mustang that I will be keeping.

Do what’s best for you. You know the history of the car, value, etc.... etc. If you can live with the decision, then do it. Just know you will have a very difficult time getting another one.

Sell it and get something else.

There will always be another one you can buy later.

I usually keep these cars for a year or two and move on to the next one.

I think a GTR or Viper will be my next purchase after I'm done with this one.

Yep. First thought about selling my 03 Cobra in 2015. Finally sold it in 2018, and bought an RS5. I never really drove the Cobra....
You'll know it when the time is right. I miss the Cobra a little, but not enough to regret the decision.

I sold my '03 many moons ago and have moved on. I have no desire to own another one. I will always have fond memories of the one I had, and enjoy seeing/reading about the cars you folks own. When I did own mine, I treasured it..loved it..drove it..showed it. My interests have changed over the years. I can't afford a weekend-only muscle car, and I prefer the new engineering/tech on the new cars.

We all do. Sometimes hourly.
The car scene around here is big.....I struggled with not being able to participate in shows or gatherings. If spectating and showing pics of your old car to people is your thing, than you will be fine. I wasn't.
:DI'm getting older and doing just fine. Kids turn 18 eventually.
Unfortunately, the car scene up here in Connecticut has changed big time since when I owned my Cobra. Hell, on any given week night (or the weekend) there were multiple cruises to go to and hang with fellow muscle car owners. I went to a least 2 gatherings a week, sometimes 4-5. Now, the cruise/gatherings scene has died considerably. So if I did still own my Cobra, I'd have to hunt hard and far to find shows or gatherings to attend. So I'd likely just take it out on a Saturday a couple of times a month to just enjoy the panache of the Terminator.

Maybe it's my personnel experience, but at the end of the day, a Cobra is just a 400hp New Edge.

Even if you "can't find another Cobra", you can build a 4v S/C New Edge all day long for chump change.

I really think it's the idea of owning a Cobra more then any actual enjoyment the car it self provides.

I agree. I think its the idea of owning a terminator. It's hard to let go of my car because of the memories I built with it. Do I love my cobra? Not really. I like it, but I don't love it. so many other better mustangs out there. I wouldn't mind a GT500 or a new coyote. so much easier to make power and ride better. cobra was cool when I bought it back in 03 and was in my 20's.

I'm in this boat now also. For years I said I would never sell it. After this last round of modding (blower swap and fuel system) everything has become really out dated. I ended up spending double what I originally wanted to just to make everything work properly. Now I'm just disgusted with the car and want to move on.
a C6Z is definitely in my horizon.

I've owned 3 since 2005 and each time the memories/enjoyment has gotten better and better. I've learned my lesson to not sell lol.

whipple 2.9 and a return system. Then that turned into a new maf, new hand held, had to do exhaust work......all that fun stuff
I don't currently have enough space in my garage to do the work myself so I had to pay for labor

I just purchased a 2.9 Gen 4 myself. I have to upgrade the fuel system as well. Not looking forward to that, but it is what it is. Plan and hope to keep the car for many, many years to come.

Well, sad to see it go with it all buttoned up ready for some action.....but totally understand. Nothing wrong with a c6z.....still one of my favorite vettes of all time.

I keep toying with the idea of selling mine. It mainly gets bad during the winter when I have it stored. Then spring comes and it all comes back to how much fun this car is to drive for me, and all the work/money I've put into it over the last 10 years. Then again this is the longest I've ever owned a vehicle, and I guess I'm a little board and want to try something new. I've really been wanting to get into a '13/14 GT500, although I've never driven one.

Damn, sorry to hear that. It's things like this that make me really not want to mod beyond intake/pulley/tune/exhaust. I know how I am and if I started running into problems, or poor driveability and then had to pay someone, I would also get disgusted and sell the car immediately.

If the heads/cams remain factory....you won't lose any drivability from where you are right now just with a blower swap. And if you go with E85, I'd argue the drivability will even improve. Ethanol idles like no other, it's amazing. Honda accord idle.

If it’s a CO you won’t have a problem moving it. Would love a 13-14 but refuse to have another payment for a toy. My Cobra is paid for and there is always something faster. It scratches that itch for now.
