I get what you’re saying. But it’s going to be fast, for the sake of going fast. Not sure that I see it as pointless.
Doing laps in fast cars without actually racing does start pushing a sense of pointlessness to me, even in formula cars. But anyway, 100% of the buyers of these buy them as novelty play toys and its not their only thing. As uselss as the FGT is to the basic public as we cant afford them, this car is even more so useless because we cant enjoy the magazine racer aspect of it. I get a feeling a certain member at our track will show up with one, when I see it in person im sure excitment will be there

Debbie downer of the day award goes to me lol

I get it - you were looking forward to a spectacularly fast street-legal car, and they built something different. I also agree that would be cool.

That said, I can actually use the performance this car offers. A hopped-up street version would just get poodled around at 20% of its capability, and occasionally destroyed clumsily in a YouTube video. This track version is going to get driven at 10/10, entered into local "anything goes" time trial series, and I am frankly going to have a lot more fun with it than I would with a street version. So from the perspective of a track rat, this car is much more appealing.

Yea and I get it from your POV because you can afford one among many others. I am the definition of track rat myself on a much much lower budget (spec miata/formula ford) and I just dont get excited over whats essentially just a GTLM car with more power.

Im a fool for thinking Ford would try and build a car to take on the street legal track oriented hypercars for the magazine side of me which really is 99% of people.

So, who would be doing the track side support for you? Just curious.

I go to Mosport and Calaboogie and I have only once seen a hypercar there and it was almost certainly not driven 10/10ths.

Yes, I understand the rear diffuser is functional.

I just think it looks like ass; like it was a last second add-on.

Don't @ me.

Fortunately that turns out not to be the case. I've tried driving 9/10s in a track car and I just can't seem to do it. 2 secs off race pace feels like crawling!

Treynor,

Do you know why they are still using the street car Getrag’s DCT, and not the race cars Ricardo sequential? At this price point, cost is no object right, so why not the superior transmission? Maintenance?

Truly a supremely special car either way!!!

Quite possibly power & torque capacity. They've turned up the boost substantially on this car, and many race transmissions are spec'd for GTE-level output.

Track only, meaning no VIN? Then i agree, pointless. Even if I had Treynor money (that should be a rap song) I want a car I can drive on the street too.

If there are buyers for something like this (which there are), I say go for it. As gearhead's, we should all like to see what the art of the possible looks like. This is that sort of car.

Yes, it isn't street legal, only for the very wealthy, and largely irrelevant for us mere mortals. Who cares.......It's still totally badass.

I thought even "track only" cars get a vin/serial # of some sort and what typically makes them "track only" are things like exhaust dB, indicator lights, mirrors, ect.

Example of what I'm referring to is the Aston Martin Vulcan. This was a "track only" car but someone did a conversion to add all the missing street legal items and now it can be driven on the street. Article HERE

Only on SVTP will you find people upset about Ford making a badass race car, that they can't drive on the street (nor afford to begin with). lol

Love me some SVTP haters in the morning.

to be honest I was hoping for some amped up street version but this is still cool as shit. It'll be interesting to see what this thing is truly capable of with no limitations, especially seeing what the race car was doing with damned near no boost and heavier. I hope Ben's isn't the only to hit the track in anger

I wouldn't be surprised if you had to have a race license to purchase this? @treynor did they ask for and credentials?

I'm stoked to see this thing rip it on the track.

Imagine this thing in the Viper Stryker Purple...mmmm

Interesting to know if they require it but pretty sure they already have his info from the other race car (boss 302S?)
