Before I abandon this set up for most likely one of the new PD's or a Turbo I was wondering if anyone has been successful in eliminating belt slip?
I recently put on a 3.33 pulley with the wastegate & 100" Green belt but lost 60 rwhp. I felt underneath the pulley & sure enough there was belt dust.
The belt is on as tight as can possibly be. There is less than a 1/4" of movement in the tensioner. In fact I broke the original tensioner trying to walk the belt on.

I am still on the 6 rib and contemplating picking up an 8 rib set up and going with the 3.125" w/ wastegate & high traction pulley or the grip rite.

Has any of you experienced slip before and gone to the 8 rib? If so did it eliminate your slip?

The reason for staying with the Paxton would be that I could spend my money on a built short block & fuel system instead of a whole new FI set up. I know the Paxton can make big power but I'm afraid it'll still be boring on the street, And it is a street car after all, full weight vert 6r80 3.15 gear street car.
If I go with a new FI set up I'll have to run it on low boost until next year when I can afford to do fuel and short block. Or I could just put it all on my credit card and hide the statement from the wife for the next year.

What car is this? I would go 8 rib personally. Depending on the car it can be done fairly cheap. I had some belt slip on my D1 with a 6 rib. When I ran the T trim I went to an 8 rib and still had a little slip, but I traced it back to the Thump tensioner. When I went F1A I clocked the tensioner correctly and it never slipped. It pulled like a freight train to the top end. I'm not a fan of overly tight belts. They kill main bearings pretty quickly.

It's a 2014 GT A6 3.15, Convertible. The no slack in the tensioner is bothering me.
Dumb question but how would clocking the tensioner help? And does a Thump tensioner help with the slip?

8 rib, do not use the credit card. Save save save

Yes dad. :D

Needing to reclock the tensioner had something to do with the single bolt tensioners. I was just putting it there in case someone else read the post. The Thump tensioner made a big difference for my set up. It was a lot stronger than the stocker. Swap to the 8 rib. There's a lot more contact with it.

Keep in mind that a wastegate loads and unloads the blower as the springs are trying to maintain a set boost level. It's common to lose peak horsepower in favor of 70-80wtq midrange with the wastegate also. My D1sc with a wastegate made 860whp with 755wtq which is unheard of while using a centrifugal.

I've had good luck with the gates RPM belt on my setup. Go light on the tension with the RPM belts as they do not stretch. If you over tension one it will snap.

860whp on a d1sc! Maybe you had a f1a on it and Procharger badged it as a d1sc lol. That’s insane....
