You two are talking about two different trim levels. There's a decent gap in msrp from the TRD Off-road and the TRD Pro.
He never mentioned the pro. He said a quad cab Tacoma. A quad cab Tacoma starts out way less than $45k. See below...
But so are midsize prices!!

Quad Cab Tacoma is $45k.

What happen to a compact truck that cost less then a car?

Isnt the pro Toyota's hilariously pathetic attempt at a special edition? I see idiots paying upwards of 60k for them and they look 0% different

That's a Pro... that's like taking the MSRP of Raptor and applying it to all F150's.

Ya'll have the brain worms.

The original point was that people complain at how expensive a Full Size truck is. They say this based on optioned out MSRP trucks, like a loaded Raptor or King Ranch. "Omfg $80k for a truck!?"

The mid size is not a cure to this ailment since they suffer the exact same pricing strategy.

That Tacoma TRD Pro is comparable to a Ram Rebel. Both are $45k MSRP.

And yes, you can get thousands knocked off truck sticker prices. Hell, I recall the Chevy 2500 at one point had like $22k off depending on the options and region.

I am amused at knocking midsize trucks given that they are as big as or bigger than f150s,s Silverados, etc of 10 years ago.
Not really. I've owned a 2005 Tacoma for like 8 years now. It's no Full Size. The new Tacoma is pretty much the same damn truck, just worse.

I would disagree with that statement. If you look at the NEW Tacoma, it is about the same size as older full size trucks (circa 2001).

Also, what do you mean by much worse?

The 3.5 is a complete dog.

They no longer have an LSD option.

Styling is bleh, wind buffering with open windows is still awful.

So it has some tech and upgraded interior. Not worth trading in my 2005 and taking on $40k of payments.

You would be 0% correct.
Care to explain how wheels and a badge make it look totally different?

Just read the specs on the pro over the offroad and spit out my coffee laughing my ass off.... Yea. Its a complete joke considering what people pay

Best resale in the business. Pay 45k for a PRO now and in 3 years when you are bored with it its still worth 45k. Cant beat that with a stick and plenty of guys on TacomaWorld are doing it

Different shocks, crawl control, exclusive colors.
Best resale in the business because of its cult following, toyota people are weird and its got nothing to do with the performance. A TRD pro really is a joke for the price.

Tell me about it.

My 2005 TRD O/R was like $33k new.

14 years later, 220k miles, I bet I could get $10k for it.

Just look at what people pay for FJ Cruisers.

Not saying its not. Im just saying that you know when you buy a Tacoma that you will get back what you paid for it.

I could say the same for any brand loyalty. GM guys are weird, Mopar guys are extremely weird and Ford guys are strange as well. Im not brand loyal by any stretch and drive whatever I like and can afford

Mine has a locker so don't care about the LSD. 3.5 is a little anemic on the low end but I think a lot of the has to do with the gearing. That doesn't make it worse though... Maybe not worth an upgrade to you but certainly not a worse truck.

Different shocks, crawl control, exclusive colors.

Offroad has crawl control too.

I think the only part they will share is the frame. The rest will be ram parts so it wont have the jeep markup.

Dodge is killing it. Last week we got the widebody charger this week we got the Dakota.
Indeed, its been a pretty good quarter for the Mopar boys and girls.

I more so find it funny that zyborg says im 0% correct about it looking no different yet.... Ooooh special colors... I like the TRD offroad, they are inifite times better looking than the new ranger or colorado but cmon... I just think the pro is a joke when comparing options. And the resale thing... I dont know, the trail teams stuff is pretty cheap around here compared to what msrp was.
