***EDIT**** The QLED 75” was on sale so got that.

So my 2yr old threw a toy and broke our 10yr old Samsung 58" Plasma. So it's time to buy a new family room TV. I had planned to get a Samsung LED 75" 8 series TV and be done with it. Then I saw that I could get a smaller 65" QLED for the same price. I know the differences between the 3 but was wondering if going 10" smaller is worth it for the "better" Technology.

We have a 60" LED in the bed room and it seems great for the Kids shows that are about the only thing watched on it.

What say ye ole wise SVTP?

QLED is a gimmick to compete with OLED. Go OLED all day.

Once my Panasonic VT60 dies that will be my choice.

That is what I originally thought but a ton of reviews I read said that QLED actually has a better picture than OLED but OLED has better blacks.

So you are saying you would get 10" smaller just to get the OLED? 65" OLED vs 75" LED.

Thanks,

I have read through those and TV size is fine and one of my options is one of the ones listed. Just don't know if for the same price if it would be better for 10" bigger or QLED or OLED.
Used to be lighting in the room had a play in that as the OLEDs couldn't get as bright as a LED LCD. That may have changed over the past few years though as OLED has improved.

Abso****inglutely worth it. We just replaced a 10 year old 65 inch LCD with a 70 inch QLED and it's a HUGE difference. Love our new Samsung 70
Going from a plasma that started deteriorating the second you turned it on will be such an upgrade.

We just put a 65" QLED Q70R from Amazon in my bedroom. It was $1600 and I got a 15% statement credit ($240 Amazon credit). Paid $100 for them to install it on the wall. It has amazing picture quality and I just can't imagine that the OLED is worth the extra $1000.

That is one of the one's I am looking at but it is 10" smaller than the 8 Series Samsung LED. Wife and I are headed to Best buy in a bit to see what they got.

Yes it is worth it.

Sony XBR-65A8F. Totally awesome to watch shows and play video games on it. OLED is where it as at. When you get true 4K content it is stunning. The porn is so life like, you have to cover up during the money shots to prevent from getting sprayed.

Asking what TV brand to buy will get you as many varied answers as a tire or exhaust thread. I didn’t buy Samsung because of two previous TV duds and bad experience with their customer service. Others will swear by them and I respect because I used to just can’t anymore.

LG supposedly has the best OLED TV. There are cheaper options out there but they don’t look as good but don’t look bad either. I went with Sony because it was stunning. There was a more top of the line Sony model available so I didn’t get the Candace Swanepoel model but still took a Victoria Secret model home.

Ya I was trying to stay away from brand question as most are opinions to a point. The main question is if you have say $2K to spend on a TV do you get a 75" LED or a 65" or smaller QLED/OLED. Does size matter over picture.

Size always matters but unless you have a monster sized I think the picture is more important and when I looked I thought the 65 inch look more crisp and defined.

I know the showroom can play games with the picture quality and I am sure you are way smart enough to make up your own mind. Good luck shopping.

OLED all day. When it was time to upgrade my Panasonic Plasma (which still had a great picture) I went with a 77" LG C8. It is amazing. The contrast ratio and how well it handles motion are the biggest pluses for me. LCD just can't do it like OLED can, and if you're used to that plasma it might make the difference for you too.

Like the article posted above says, that GoT episode got dogged for being too dark and hard to see but I could see it just fine.
