That's right, according to you they don't do research on the performance of a car and just toss out Benjamins to get said car, go to the track then find out why it doesn't run what it should.

So they mod the crap out of it, to get an et close to or just better than a tester.................who does it for a living and most times, have the experience to back up what they do.

Anyways, I'm done. You believe what you want, I'll believe what I want. Good luck modding your new GT500 so a stock ZR1 doesn't put bus lengths on you at the track.

I understand now. you are one of the magazine racers. XYZ magazine said it does this, so there is no way it could ever do better. the real world doesnt exist, and there is no way possible anyone has more experience or better conditions could ever exist. SO lets not pit the 2 cars head to head at the same time, lets just leave it to these guys that get paid to do it, and not the ones that paid

No buddy, I research and see what a car I'm interested in does when tested BEFORE I decide to purchase. Then I hit the track and do my best to better that time running on a better surface and with better tires.

I don't just say a car is gonna be faster than another car when I know stock it has no chance against the faster car stock.

Again, get your car and run it we'll see how you do vs. the testers, and again look up Evan Smith, if you race you should know who he is.

Your eyes must be glazed over by the announcement of the big hp # for this car, you and everybody else knows nothing else about it yet...……………..guess I have to spell it out for you:

weight, weight distribution, p/w ratio.

Just stating this car is gonna hand a ZR1 a L in any race (specifically in a drag race) shows me what you know...…………..NOTHING!!!!

Guess you stopped when you read editor of MM&FF, maybe you should keep reading and you might figure out he's more of an accomplished drag racer than you.

I would bet money that you wouldn't get a better time than him in a new GT500 on a dragstrip, but I have no confidence that you would run your car totally stock to get an et out of your car.

Apples to oranges???? Sounds to me that's how you win races showing up with more done to the car than what you lead on.

Lol at beating Evan. When Ford invites you to thrash their latest you know you've made it. He's good - real good.

sure.. because no one has ever beaten MM & FF stock times on a strip for a mustang have they? he holds all records for stock fords huh? Him already being an editor probably has nothing to do with him being invited to test the cars

lets make a bet on stock vs stock Cmann.. can i beat his time?

You gents are ridiculous

The fact that his invite was likely two-fold doesn't negate the fact that the man can drive.

oh wow. im sooo impressed with a guy that can drive, never seen that before.. let me ask again, has he reviewed Fords before? does he hold the stock ET/MPH records for all/any of them? no, then the relevancy is lost. not my fault Cman01 has a crush on the guy, is the guy, or just plain doesnt understand the realworld and wants to magazine race

Plenty of guys can drive. Just responding to your comments.

And "records?" I'd say Evan has a pretty good resume. Is yours better?

  • 2012-2014 Selected by as a factory test driver for the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet racing program
  • 2011 NHRA US Nationals Class winner (driving a 2008 Mustang)
  • 2011 Ford Racing Cobra Jet Shootout winner (driving a 2008 Mustang)
  • 2010 NHRA Gatornationals Number 1 Qualifier (driving a 1993 Mustang)
  • 18-Time NHRA Class winner, including 5-time U.S. Nationals Class winner
  • 6-Time NHRA National Record Holder
  • In 1997 Evan Smith became the first NHRA racer to set a national record with a “late-model” fuel-injected Mustang, setting the L/S record at 12.04/110 mph). Evan was the first Stock Eliminator racer with a 302 Ford to break the 10-second barrier when he ran 10.92 with his ’93 Cobra in 2006.

That's funny you would even put that word in any of your responses, considering everything you posted here have you modding your car basically the instant you get it, and to actually say you can get a better time than someone that will run the car the way it shows up from Ford makes you an idiot.

I told you earlier, I would be down for the drag race you proposed...……………...if you ran your car and I run a ZR1 (if I had one, but I don't). You honestly think me or anyone else would be ok to rely on someone totally unknown that has a ZR1 for this race and put money on it against you? You're dumber than I thought. John Force could be driving the ZR1 and I still wouldn't agree to those terms, speaking of crushes for all I know you probably have a thing with your ZR1 buddy so he would keel over during the race for you to collect the bet. Sorry I'm not stupid but you are for even thinking I would be fine with your terms of the race.

Meanwhile, did you order your car yet??? Fran @ RPM probably has the dyno all skewed up ready to pop out those huge dyno #'s from your Shelby so you have a chance against that ZR1 (in your dreams).

Show me where he hokds platform records. Bracket racing and great consistant reaction time sure, tell ke how that equates to extracting the best possible performance?

Opp, magazine racers dont know about racing, how odd.

And yes cman, modded as soon as i get it, day 2. Day 1 is break in, dyno, dragstrip, day 2 is modded, dyno dragstrip. Ive been clear in saying that.
We get it, vbox and magazines is what you care about.

If I have it right Even J Smith is the editor of muscle mustangs, fast fords. Why would you pick a fight with him? He’s a great guy that has done an outstanding job of informing and entertaining car enthusiasts for about 20 years.

He got an 03 cobra to go 12.43@114 stock and 12.2@116 barely modded (pulled air filter and slicks iirc)

Really great driver and stand up guy. He’s like Randy Phobst of drag racing. He’s human, I’m sure there’s a driver somewhere who can wheel to wheel with him and maybe beat him but trust us al he’s in that 99th sliver of badass
