DEARBORN, Mich., June 19, 2019 – Venomous strike: The all-new 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 will produce 760 horsepower and 625 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the most powerful street-legal Ford ever – with the most power- and torque-dense supercharged production V8 engine in the world.

Enough said.

Seems a lot of ppl are down on s/c power adder unless it's a dodge.

When it comes to cheap reliable oem power adder the s/c is not easy to beat.

If it wasn't for ford brining 03/04 engine dodge would still be pushing their shitty n/a hemi. Oh and ford beat them to that in 96.

Oh and let's not forget about dohc v8 engine. Chevy might finally get one but they failed once already so we'll see...

You think fiat would be able to help dodge get that technology going?

Yeah ford is boring with the engine tech these days

Lolol @ this thread.

Wow.

I can’t wait to see the first batch of new GT500’s at the local track going 12.50@119 mph driven by guys on this forum who “know how to drive”.

Gonna be good shit! I can’t wait.

That logic doesn't hold with a DCT and all the electronic traction and stability aids. It's just stomp and steer. Kinda hard to screw that up. A manual introduces so many more elements of human error.

Lets be clear about the history here. Without the development of the roots supercharged factory Ford motors and the success of the Thunderbird SC, the Terminator Cobra, 1st Generation Ford GT, and the 2007 - 2014 GT500 by Ford there wouldn't be a supercharged Z06, ZR1, ZL1, Hellcat, Redeye, or Demon. Thank Ford for paving the way.

Ford was the original and the other followed the trail already blazed. That being said, I am glad to see the horsepower wars back in full swing. I like the beasts being produced by Dodge and GM. I just want to give credit where credit is due.

Could Ford have dome more with the GT500? I am sure of it. Perhaps they will come out with a GT500R to bridge any performance gaps, real or perceived.

1997 Buick Regal roots SC comes to mind...1999 Nissan XTerra...Chevy Impala 3800 Series II Supercharged... In addition to the T-bird Super Coupe.

Lol. Right.

Hey man, just stop and steer!

Stomp and steer!

How could it not apply... My wife's tuned / 3.55 geared 3.7 v6 mustang could spin 275 Nitto Invos and you're trying to tell me people are launching / powershifting a 707 HP Hellcat on 275 street tires with NO intervention from electronic aids... There's where your "Right" comment belongs. Look at just about every modern "performance" car and it has a launch control mode that will hold revs and work the stability control for you off the line. It most cases these days it really is just put your foot down and go.

And i could say the same thing about the GT350, they haven’t done shit to the engine since 2015. Once again they could very easily get DI and raise the compression,. 550-575hp all day long but i can dream

There was an article posted (in this thread?) that talked about the changes Ford Performance made to the 5.2L block. All of those changes are carrying over directly to the GT350. So the '20+ Voodoo isn't the same as the '15-'19 Voodoo.

Yeah wtf lmfao, but ford wants to make money so blower car with no Originality And mark ups it is

To be fair, turbos aren't original, either. The German manufacturers are obsessed with twin-turbo V8s. That said, I DO wish Ford would make an Ecoboost V8! I suspect we'll see a V8 turbo in the Mustang shortly after the C8 Corvette is released. We all know that engine is going to make its way into the Camaro.

The 5.2 changes are basically just beefier block and deeper head bolts to bolt up the heads to the block. What they needed to keep the GT500 boosted 5.2 together they incorporated those improvements to the 350 engine for ease of production at the factory.

Lost_M will be the first to get that rude awakening when he finds out why an inexperienced tester on a shitty surface got a time better than what he can manage at a prepped dragstrip. LMAO!!!!

...Mazda millenia.... all dogs.

Those cars were dogs that didnt hunt. Couldn't take modifications and go fast on stock internals like the 03/04 cobra.

People can dog this combo and complain about not going far enough but that’s the damn point. It’s still a Mustang and no true hot rodder is cool with 100% stock.
The point is, the potential of the platform is the point. It’s our job to maximize what SVT gives us.
This 5.2/2650/DCT combo should make 900hp easy on 18-20psi and rifle off 8000rpm shifts.
Well, at least that assumes the hard parts are durable enough to hold on, TBD.
