Hello,

I am looking to purchase a 2013 with 29k miles on it, all stock except the idiot previous owner decided to lower the car. He did so with Ford performance lower springs. My question is, if I wanted to return back to stock...does anyone foresee any issues with doing this? I imagine the OEM replacement springs are about $350 for all 4...which is fine, because the car is a good deal now. What is the ride like with those lowering springs and has anyone even gone back to stock OEM height?

Thanks,

Jim

I'm on eibach pro kit springs and I love them. No noticable difference in ride quality, and a better look. I heard great stuff about the Ford racing springs. Do you need to raise it back up? If you chose to, nothing beside an alignment to check camber would need to be addressed.

I too have the Ford lowering springs. They lower the car around .75'' to 1''...I love the look, ride, and the handling with these springs. I'd would never put my (still have them) stock springs back in the car. Curious though...why would you want stock springs?

If you bought the Ford Racing L-springs, they are designed for the dual mode SVTPP Bilstein suspension.
Barely lowered the front of my car like 3/8” but does reduce the rear rake. Ride same as stock.
I never liked the stiff suspension setting on the street in my car. Especially not on the highway.

Nothing wrong with lowering these cars. Factory 4x4 stance leaves a lot to be desired. If you want the factory stance again, I’m sure tons of people who have lowered their cars would love to sell their stock springs to you.

Lol. Show me on the doll where the lowering springs hurt you.

Well unfortunately I live in SE Pennsylvania, and our roads are...shall we say bumpy? So lowering a car like this could be quite detrimental when you're dodging huge potholes on almost every road.

So you can lower with the dual mode bilsteins? I had no idea- I love my stock dual mode and thought I was screwed about lowering

+1 here for lowering with Ford Racing Springs. I didn’t realize much if any difference in handling or ride, but it looks way better lowered.

Yes, the ‘L’ springs are designed for the dual mode Bilsteins and were used during testing, almost the were the stock springs.

I have the dual-mode Bilsteins and the Ford L Springs. I forget where, but years ago the rates were posted and they ARE the same as the OEM springs for the dual-mode dampeners, just shorter. That is why people often say they ride like stock. Those springs are sought after. My recommendation would be to purchase a set of take-off springs from someone. You can probably find them on this forum. Then seller yours for the same money.

Correct Tom.
I had asked about cutting the stocker and the answer was no.
The L spring drop is minimal up front, just to be clear, so if you want slammed, they’re not the right choice. For the OP, should be perfect.

The pro kit is dead nuts on. When you really lean on them in a corner, you can feel them tighten up, but they are soft a comfy everywhere else. Good to know they hit all the factory spring rate numbers, plus some at the end too.
