So did Ford reveal to you that they initially turned you down for the first batch of FGTs because they originally had you in mind as a buyer of this upcoming model?

The 300SL is gorgeous by the way! One of my fondest memories is going over to my grandparents house and while my grandpa would play Solitaire I would play with this steel bodied model 300SL with functional gullwing doors.

Let me guess, you got her the Ferrari so you could sneak the Merc into the collection?

You need to hit up Amelia Island next year if you are getting into the concours stuff.

The SL is actually Christine's - it has been on her bucket list for ~30 years. It's a driver - and a really nice one at at that.

She has good taste. I would love a 300 SL gullwing myself. That or a Jaguar E-Type.

Hey @treynor -

First off, respect. You ball at a level that all of wish we could and you keep it real, which makes it all the better. Given this, you are a great resource and offer incredible perspective. I feel like there should be a Treynor AMA sticky to this effect. Nonetheless, I hope it is not too much trouble to ask you a few questions? Apologies if these have all been beat to death as I have not been around all that long.

1. what brought you to SVT initially? Was it a terminator, GT 500, or something else? How does the SVT community rate relative to others? What other forums are good?
2. what drives your purchases? Is it passion and randomness or is there an overarching theme to your collection?
3. Do you have brand loyalty?
4. What are your top 3 that you own? What would you like to own but do not for whatever reason?

Hope I am not being a pest.

@Klaus was curios myself about your ? #1, went back in thread and found this.

Fair question. Three reasons:

1. My first car was a '87 5.0 Mustang, and they've always had a special place in my heart.
2. I've been reading and posting here for about a decade, I know several of the people (including L.L.) who are here, and I like the ambiance.
3. This Thread keeps bringing me back :)

Yup, that.

As to what we buy... my wife and I are both car people. We were car people when we were three. Are car people 50 years later. I do have a real affinity for Ford (first car), Ferrari (unobtainable dream, figured I'd never own one), and track driving.

My wife is an auto enthusiast as well. She and I met as teenagers, and we have now been married 22 years.

Ford is new to us. I have always liked the Mustang and it's heritage, but she was a Pontiac fan, and I was hooked on Mopar.

I would love to give her another WS6 Trans Am. She misses that car.

My wife is a car girl too!

Ben how did your quote go? "When you marry an enthusiast, you either go broke or run out of garage space."?

I did both lol.

"If you marry another car enthusiast, you're going to either go bankrupt or run out of garage space. My job is to make sure we run out of garage space first."
