Those are respectable numbers for a 5.2L. I’m interested in what a ford boosted Coyote based engine will do and can handle power-wise. Car has the hype I hope it delivers and then some.

I agree. The Challenger might look a little thick body-wise but it’s still an attractive car. I think it’s the best looking muscle car for going on a decade now. But what kind of hell would happen if they fix the only real complaint of the cars? Hellcat with a 500lb diet would be one seriously deadly car regardless of what Chevy and Ford come out with.

Pick your poison.
People can deny the Challenger, but it can't be ignored.

Then you have people who road course their cars like I do. All of the Dodge Challengers are poor handling pigs that weigh too much.

I think Ford is marketing the GT500 to be a well rounded car in terms of drag racing and the road course. The GT350R is a pretty exceptional car on the road course.
Don't care, stop lights don't include Willow Springs or Road Atlanta.

Also you must include vehicle weight the DCT is rated at 664lb-ft in a vehicle weighing 5,291lbs approximately. The transmission may be able to handle a higher torque with a 4,150lb car.

Ford has been very, very open about shifting their focus to SUVs and smaller, more efficient engines. Their marketing reflects that very well. The GT500 is a limited production car that sells itself to: the enthusiasts (a very niche group) and enthusiasts with $$$$$ (a very niche group of the enthusiasts).

The GT500 will have no problem selling, and Ford is well aware of that fact. Then, add in that the 'next generation' of Ford income does not really care about performance cars (or cars in general) and it's no surprise you don't see a lot of marketing for the GT500.

The next generation cares about everything Ford is spending marketing dollars on: environment, sustainability, acceptance, equality, etc... They've already got us 'old' enthusiasts and they know some have established their careers/finances to be able to buy a $80k+ car. There is absolutely no need to spend the money on marketing, but more importantly for Ford's vision and to the appeal of their 'next-generation' of income, pushing big marketing on a 760hp performance-oriented car may hurt the brand.

A higher-up from Ford gave a presentation at our company a couple of years ago (we are a big presence in the automotive world, and sustainability world). He was very clear that Ford does not see itself as a car manufacturer in the future. Ford wants to establish itself as a technology company, and they are currently taking the steps to reach that goal. I'm glad Ford Performance is still around, and I suspect it will be for quite some time. But Ford, and the world in general, will go through some pretty interesting changes if their plan is carried out as currently envisioned.

Yeah yeah. They want to be a technology company. Fidelity says that too. So do dozens of other non tech companies.

Just like GoPro is "media and content company."

Tesla fancies itself a software company.

Elizabeth Warren is a Native American.

I hear you, and can't say I disagree. But the marketing and vision of Ford is real and can be seen right now. Will it stick, who knows?

I could see the argument that Tesla is a software company though. I haven't seen any other manufacturer reach Tesla's 'auto-pilot' capability for self driving. That is 95% software related vs hardware.

This is precisely the reason that Jim Hackett needs to GTFO. Any Ford family member that believes this too needs a swift Iaccoca and Shelby boot up the ass too.

DO YOU HEAR ME FORD? YOU MAKE CARS AND TRUCKS. YOU MAKE VERY GOOD CARS AND TRUCKS. DO NOT **** WITH THE MUSTANG.

Shit will get real when @Tob takes the first one and hits the dyno and that bad bitch hits 750 to the wheels.

I bet it’s underrated like the Terminator cars.

its not the early 2000s anymore, ford rates all their engines using the updated SAE standard. The stated hp is exactly that

Given that it is rated under SAE's J1349 standard, I'd don't see that being the case.

Im just holding out hope. The truth is nobody will know until 13COBRA starts his deliveries and they throw them on the dynos. I really want to see this car be a success and up the ante that much more.

Will be interesting to see if the pulley on the blower is removable.

Everything is removable.

For sure, this is a hell of a package if you think about it. In the proper hands essentially 95% of a demon on the strip and 95% of ZR1 on the track. Incredibly the mopar guys seem to think this is a fail because of the venom kills demons comment. Meanwhile, redeyes are gathering dust on dealer lots.

760 = 662
662 = 580
580 = 485
485 = 400
400 = 340
340 = 285
285 = 220
220 = 185
185 = 150
