I was climbing around in the bed the other day and noticed the 3rd Brake Light/Cargo Light assembly has melted/burnt itself.

Just curious if this is common on older trucks, newer trucks, or not at all and I just have an outlier.

Mine is a Lariat with led's, maybe you can upgrade yours to the lariat and higher LED assembly?

Maybe, but how idiotic is it that Ford would design something that begs itself to melt.

It’s hard telling how long it has been there either. I noticed it a couple weeks ago, but can’t honestly say I ever checked since I bought it in October of ‘15

Haven’t seen this issue on my 15. Having said that eventually I’m upgrading to the Lariat LED unit. I think they’re around $100.00 on eBay.

It’s a ‘15, but I didn’t opt for an extended warranty. I don’t even know if I have any warranty left period.

I think powertrain was 3/36. Bumper to bumper was probably the same.

I bought it in October of ‘15, so I’m pretty sure it’s a cost I’ll be eating.

Still disappointed in the lack of thought process putting plastic right on top of a light bulb while in an enclosed space.

Powertrain is 5/60. I had a 15 also. I know really well cause the ABS wires burnt up on me at 50K miles and they said powertrain wouldn't cover it so I was on the hook for a 2700 harness replacement.

Eff that noise.

They give a reason?

I’m pretty sure powertrain is only engine, trans, and rear end. I had a check engine light come on a week after the three years were up met that before 36K and I paid for the check engine light. I also got ESP. Didn’t want too but I’ll be glad I did if something happens.

@13COBRA am I correct in the powertrain above?
